A local Dem party operative (mostly state level) suggested to me last night that by the time of convention Hillary simply bringing Bernie on as Veep could single handedly unite the Dem base to assure at least equal results of 2012 (66m votes) and thus make it virtually impossible for a Trump led ticket to pull enough support to surpass the Romney 61million

I would say there is little to no chance she does that. I still think she wins, but it's going to be closer than I would have ever imagined.

Either way, she's lucky she's running against a buffoon. Hillary's favorables are terrible. Nearly 6 in 10 Americans don't like her. 33% of her voters admit that the most important reason they are voting for her is a vote against Trump. That's incredible. She's 54-36 with women. Obama took romney 55-44. Kind of stunning that she still can't get over Obama's number considering Trump is a misogynist.

Well remarkable diplomacy often seems to take place every 4th summer - as noted already in past month of GOP beltway types suddenly deciding Trump is viable.

She may well look for a Veep who can (supposedly) add to her own pull but hard to imagine anyone she could choose who would bring in more than would Bernie.

And yes, having a buffoon as your principal opponent helps any contestant......heh

I am honestly not following any of this in much detail. It seems to me in the 2016 cycle pretty much however it polls in January is how it will play in November...hard to imagine a truly significant percentage being honestly Undecided and tiltable

54-36 with 10% being either undecided or 3rd party. I think you'll see a decent 3rd party showing when compared with 2012.

Agreed. This election will be about turnout. It'll be interesting to see if Trump, Hillary or stay home is the choice of the Bern's supporters.

Speaking of attacks on women, I thought it was pretty damn funny that he took a swipe at Senator Warren by calling her Pocahontas. Still zero chance I vote for him.
