I thought I heard on the news tonight (I wasn't really paying attention just had it on the TV in the background) that there was a Chinese terrorist group that was taking credit for taking the plane down. Did I hear that right?

Yes. The Chinese Martyr Brigrade. .... but they don't believe its true.

They also now dont think it was blown up or they would have found debris by now. Some speculate that it was flown nose first into the ocean where it may only break in to 2 or 3 large sections that havent broke up and floated to the top yet. ... just speculation though.

Out of nowhere. Never said an ill word to you in all the years here.

Have a good night.

I'm not intending to disrespect you, I'm simply exhibiting my disbelief at your response.

All I said was watch the documentary, it's solid. With the implication being you can then address its' findings. Never said who shot it down, even said in an earlier post the producers never concluded it was shot down by the Navy. That would be speculation, they were all about facts.

You responded that 225 sailors would never be able to keep this secret, evidently believing that expression somehow mitigated my arguments about the documentary.

That's a classic strawman, the kind of stuff that makes me shake my head.

I'm not disrespecting you, I actually concur with many things you post about real life (maybe a little less about sports and gambling :)). But I am disrespecting your argument when addressing me in this thread.

It wouldn't surprise me if the plane is never found...Which will really draw the conspiracy theories.

Now they are saying the plane flew Hundreds !! miles off course !!

[h=1]Mystery Malaysia flight may have been hundreds of miles off course[/h] By Michael Pearson and Jethro Mullen, CNN
updated 4:53 PM EDT, Tue March 11, 2014

(CNN) -- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian air force official told CNN Tuesday.

If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the cockpit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said.

"This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Peter Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.
However, veteran pilot Kit Darby, president of Aviation Information Resources, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that mechanical problems could still explain everything: A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, he said.

CNN law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes said the news "still leaves mechanical, terrorism (and) other issues as much in the air as they were before."

According to the Malaysian Air Force official, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the plane's transponder apparently stopped working at about the time flight controllers lost contact with it, near the coast of Vietnam.A transponder is an electrical instrument in commercial airline cockpits that continuously transmits information such as altitude, location, direction and speed.

The Malaysian Air Force lost track of the plane over Pulau Perak, a tiny island in the Strait of Malacca -- many hundreds of miles from the usual flight path for aircraft traveling between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, the official said.

If the data cited by the source is correct, the aircraft was flying away from Beijing and on the opposite side of the Malay Peninsula from its scheduled route.

Earlier, the head of the international police organization Interpol said that his agency increasingly believed the incident was not related to terrorism.
"The more information we get, the more we're inclined to conclude that it was not a terrorist incident," Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said at a news conference in Lyon, France.

Geez, looks like the flight did damn near a 180. Maybe an attempt to come back to airport but came back off course because of no instruments or something? We may never know.

Has anybody checked the old hanger at the other end of the airport?

Maybe this was like the Payne Stewart deal where they lost pressure and flew until the gas ran out?

That sounds feasible really. If they were trying to make it back to the airport. They might have lost pressure in the middle of the ocean, and closest airport was where they departed from. A damn mystery for sure. This is why I hate flying. I know the odds are in my favor, but all it takes is that one bad hand

That type of crash would leave a debris field.

Two questions I haven't seen addressed that I'm curious about:

1. Regarding the two individuals who were using fake passports, have they stated why the two would need a fake passport? In other words, what was preventing them from flying as themselves?

2. What about the black box? I thought those things were indestructible and would operate even if submerged in the ocean.

They weren't fake passports, they were stolen. They probably petty thieves, but possibly not. It's strange for sure. Interested to see how it unfolds

My question was a little too short. I thought part of the black box's function was to help locate a wrecked plane. I thought it "pinged" the location and the authorities used that location as a general starting point for the search. Maybe not though.

True, not sure if the blackbox pinged or it was something else. But i know what you're talking about
