I was in Scottsdale one spring 20 yrs ago, give or take.
After 18 holes in the morning, we went to a good sports bar, the NCAA's were in the first weekend round.
There was a table of about 14 casual but well dressed people, 30's to 50's in age, rooting loudly against Duke every play, Duke was playing a big underdog small school and struggling.
I walked over, asked them if they were from the other teams school, or area, or a competing ACC team, or lived in ACC country, or what.
They were a bit timid about it but they were all from Omaha, Nebraska on a business trip.
No connections to Duke in any way, they were nice about it.
I kept asking them why they hate Duke and though they were clearly educated several of them politely laughed and just said they "don't know why, we just hate Duke!"

because he truly is a lying POS. People that don’t hear or see it are just deaf and blinded by the fact he did have some success as a Coach. Other than that, he’s a disgrace to man, nothing to do with hating Duke, I’d let my children go there in a heartbeat, but I wouldn’t let them around this sorry dude…
