Look up where Army is located. Guess I will have to rethink if he is on the list of sainted coaches by ESPN. OK, I did that and he is.

He was born and raised in Chicago. His formative years. And Bobby Knight was one tough ass disciplinarian. And another thing Army, West Point you have to have brains besides discipline.

It was Rick Pitino who started the one and done.

Yes, it was, and Coach K is just as guilty for utilizing it and helping it to ruin the college game (still the best product), and also took it to the next level all the way to the Zion house deal. Dude claims clean, and is as dirty as they come. Excuses for everything and on and on, utter garbage POS, basically...

What do you expect him to do? Not recruit the top players in the country ?
Its just dumb to fault him or any college coach for recruiting a 1 done player .

You think coach K likes the one and done rule?
Hell no he don’t.

He would love to have a guy like Zion or RJ Barrett for 3 or 4 years .

As a matter of fact Duke was the very last blue blood school that held on to top players for 4 years due to coach K telling them he don’t want them if they don’t commit for 4 years . He later had to drop that requirement but for a while he was able to keep a lot of players for 4 years that other universities did not . When Shaq and Webber and hardaway etc was leaving early Grant Hill and Christian Laettner were staying 4 years .

To blame any of the one and done stuff on Coach K is ridiculous . If he has his way I’m sure he would love for that to go away and the game return back to the way it was 20 years ago

And nothing you just said disputes what I said .

Its ok for you to hate him but my post addresses your incorrect statement about coach K exploiting the 1 and done player like this was some awesome thing that he loved .

1 and done is bad for teams like Duke .

Its the reason mid majors are more competitive then they were back in the day .

Love him or hate him, one has to acknowledge he's one of the greatest and successful college coaches of all time and encouraged his guys to get an education and graduate until the era of one and done. FYI, I'm just telling it like it is I deeply respect him even though in my gambling years he and Duke hurt me. I hate Belicheck and the Patriots, Pete Rose, Saban and Alabama but in the end I understand and respect their accomplishments.

Back in the day many loathed the likes of Howard Cossell,Bobby Knight, even Muhammad Ali The Big Red Machine And so forth. But years go by and you start reminiscing and you realize these were the icons of your era you tell your grandchildren about. Personally I don’t get the hate being expressed on coach K never bothered me but I always wondered how his hair never got even a grey streak much less grey lol.

After retiring, is Coach K gonna sit on his lawn and yell at kids to get off of it like he did the student section at Cameron?

Oh puhleeze Az, you're not even warm. Firstly he's from Chicago and of Polish descent, he's NOT Italian or from the Northeast. He played under Bobby Knight whom he learned from intensively.
Bobby " chair thrower "knight & his INDIANA HOOSIERS , b.k. was one tough sonofabitch to play for from everything I've heard & read & intensely loyal to his players .

He was a great coach/educator BUT his temper got the best of him and once he started to put his hands on his athletes he was cooked. The era of physical/verbal bullying came to an end.

Speaking of Mohammad Ali he went to jail instead of being drafted he said a Viet Cong never called him the N word he railed for civil rights he threw his Olympic gold medal in the river. He converted to Muslim and of course he changed his name and he was a loud mouth LeBron James on steroids. So could you imagine the crap he would be taking today just from the mob on this forum alone. Social media is the best of times and the worse of times.

Coach K is an all time great, and a good man (yes he is a liberal all coaches are FORCED to be liberal or be fired) but I do not hold that against him.
Those that smear him are usually blind, jealous fans of opponents that he beat all the time.
He stood his ground for the most part but finally did the one and done type recruiting, which took away the magic of past teams that stuck together and won together. It really has not been nearly as much fun watching them when K went with the one and done rosters.
