what was that opening scene? a preview of the end

I would say it is the end of the first part of this season. Since the season is 8 eps this summer and 8 next, I will say that scene is in the 8th episode. They always give little parts away like this

i thought it was an excellent episode, science
"magnets bitch"

Agree 100%, Jesse always has classic lines

This episode is pretty good, seems there's a lot more involved with gus than just mexican mafia.

I wonder if Walt and Jesse were always paid in cash, even though it seems like everyone else got money wired to the offshore accounts.

Awesome that Obama people put the Romney offshore accounts commercial in one of the breaks

Who was the 2nd guy that Mike killed tonight?
Seemed like he was one of Mike's old crew, that worked for Gus, maybe even one of the 11 names on Lydia's list. But don't recall actually seeing him before tonight's episode.

Anyone remember the episode where The Cartel killed Gus's brother/partner whatever he was. They mentioned something about they would have killed Gus too if not for where he originally came from or because of who he really is.

They haven't said a word about it since...

dont remember any lydia before, who is she?
She's nobody, they make this crap up as they go you know, they killed off Gus and need a new bad guy/cartel figure to keep the action going. Walts gonna try to start his own sindicate and they need a mob/cartel figure to act as a counterweight between walt and the law(hank).

I say walt's boy is on the dope, or something is up with him working with the dea...

the more I think about it I say the kid is working with the dea (or rival meth makers) and walt will have to take care of business.

it would be a good season to have a walt waging war with unknown enemy only to find out it was his own wife and kid (and lawyer).

Yes, Walt jr. made a comment during the last show that he would love to help his uncle with what he needed. I also believe this little tidbit comes into play down the road. Like they usually do.

You really think they make "this crap up as they go" ? This show has been so well written and developed perfectly that I trust they have planned this out a little more than you think

Also-Lydia is seen at the meeting with the DEA and Madrigal so she must have some high up roll there and some relationship with Gus would be my guess

I would say that they have each seasons episodes written, beyond that, yea, they make it up, originally I heard jesse was only going to be around for part of the first season, but since he played so well, he stayed.

I guarantee you that this "lydia" character was made up after the passing of gus.
Dont you see that they just cant have Walt cooking and selling meth, attempting to make big money, they need an adversary...a dangerous adversary, on the one side, with Hank and the law on the other, with Walt squeezed in the middle.

the guy who ends up as the old man in the wheelchair calls Gus "Generalisimo" I dont speak any Spanish but that means General. And Gus is from Chile. So apparently Gus was a General in Chile.

The guy who got executed in the flashback in Mexico the other "chicken brother" seems to be Gus's gay lover. They arent brothers and the old man who ends up in the wheelchair taunts them as he is peeing in the pool that they dont look like brothers and if they are seeing his penis pee, they "like what they see"

I am in the middle of season 4 right now... so I am not reading updates... awesome show. I do, however, want to point out an inconsistency that really struck me while I was watching. Mind you.. I have done some marathon viewing over the last few weeks to get to mid-season four.. so the entire series is fresh on my mind...

** In season 3, Mike plants a bug in Walter's house and later, Gus and Mike review some recordings of Walter talking (arguing) with his wife.. Walter becomes aware of the bug and has Mike remove it. In season 4, Walter and Jesse are often seen talking about highly sensitive subjects inside Jesse's house. IMO, no way Walter would be discussing killing Gus inside Jesse's house. Not after he was bugged in his own house.

Because this is now my favorite show, I can get over it... but it still bothered me that the writer's overlooked this.

Another issue I have is that Walt and Skyler don't seem to even acknowledge that selling meth is potentially killing kids. They are too focused on the dangers of getting caught and not the moral issues one might associate with selling drugs on such a grand scale. especially Skyler. I find it unbelievable that she is somehow laundering money for the whole scheme. Selling meth is much more a moral issue than it is dangerous. the drug destroys lives, kids included if they use. Selling on such a large scale is surely something that most people would have difficulty coming to grips with.

Anyway... it's an awesome show. I just couldn't help but have these reactions after watching the first 4.5 season marathonlike.
