To the people who said in that Andrew Jones thread that both Schilling and Mussina were going into the HOF, I offer this game as evidence that they're NOT: not just because they both got bombed, but because they both are declining steadily. Schill has a two run lead, despite struggling all game, lets the leadoff guy get on, then goes to 2-2 with A-Fraud, and throws a splitter, which is taken for a ball. That's fine, but now, on 3-2, you can't throw that pitch again-for one thing, he just showed he's not gonna go fishing for it, but, more importantly, you don't have an empty base! You're throwing a pitch you almost KNOW is gonna be a ball on a full count, praying that he swings at it. Grow some balls and throw a strike! Of course, against Posada, he gets behind 2-0, then throws TWO meatballs down the middle, both of which I was amazed Posada didn't offer at, but he must've known another meatball was coming, and maybe we saw why Red Light Schill didn't wanna throw A-Fraud a strike. I'd have his blubbery ass out against Posada, and that's NOT hindsight. But Moose couldn't stand prosperity for very long, could he? They've lost 5 of his 7 starts coming in, and, last start notwithstanding, it's not been because he has been unlucky...
