Next week

I agree...I think he has an incredible career ahead of him.

As far as next week (and for the next 2 games if he is fortunate enough to get that far), he is not really in a great position to win. He does not have the same team these others have behind them. I don't think it makes him any worse of a QB if he doesn't win a Superbowl this year.

He has already proven he can win big games. I remember him going into Lambeau and beating Brett Favre with a terrible team. He has already carried mediocre teams to playoff wins. When they surround him with a solid supporting cast, it will be scary.

I am tired of hearing like this guy is the second coming. Let him prove it first!

Comparison

I'm not saying the guy isn't talented but he is not a top QB in this league by a longshot.

He is an excellent athlete but it takes more then that to win in this league. Look at some of the greatest QB's of all time, most weren't that atheltic or even close to being as athletic as Vick. The point is though it takes much more & right now he doesn't have the much more but he could have it.
That is my point...the position is changing. No one ever had athletic QB's. How can you compare running QBs to the greatest QBs of all time when there weren't any running QBs?

The game is evolving.

Great QBs win big games. Unfortunately, it takes most a long time to get a chance. In his young career he has already proven to be a winner in the playoffs with inferior teams...I don't think he gets the respect he deserves for being a winner.

He is 24 and has won in the playoffs both of his years as a starter. I think he is proving it.

But I agree...longevity will be the key. But as far as this year, he has already proven his worth.

Superbowls

steve young and john elway too...
I agree...and neither of them won Superbowls until late in their career when they had great supporting casts.

Even without the Superbowls, both were great QBs.

Neither are in the same class as Vick as a runner. Just as Vick is no where near their league as a passer.

Randall Cunningham

Randall Cunningham is the one that really deserved the criticism of never being able to win as a runner. He had some of the best defenses in the NFL behind him and still could not produce. He had plenty of weapons on offense as well (even though they lacked a running game).

Wil,
Anthony cares -- he said that black people are too stupid to be great QBs. Ever since the Republicants stole power there has been an influx in racism. I suspect it is not coincidental.

Randall had a 15-1 regular season with the Vikings, was all set to go to the Super Bowl had it not been for Gary Anderson's only missed field goal of the season...

AM I the only one who feels it doesn't matter what color a quarterback is. This isn't the 60's here people.

I agree...that is why I said "as a runner". He was a pocket passer with the Vikings and throwing it all over the place to Moss and Carter.

This is why I won't even respond to the race issue as I don't see what that has to do with this debate.

Race

I couldn't agree more with the 2 posts about color being unimportant. I just know the media is going to bring this up as they always do and it makes for a good topic to start debates.

If Vick or McNabb were white, I don't think it would increase their chance of winning. :103631605

God help us all if a MUSLIM becomes a starting qb in the Super Bowl ...

Ol Gamefarce will go nuts!

Agree with Blue ... Vick is a great athlete .. Vick is not a great qb ..

If Vick was a great qb fellas he would not be hanging around until the 2nd round of every fantasy draft I was involved with this year

Thought it was defense that won championships the majority of the time. If Trent freaking Dilfer can win one, so can Mr. Vick. However, he will need to increase his throwing acumen over time because he won't stay young forever.

Maybe next year, Dimeplayer Sportsbook will offer a future.

" Will a Black ( or African-American) QB win the Superbowl " ? That shouldn't cause any problems !

I think it best to leave race out of it. We all know most NBA players are Black, Afro-American, Colored, or whatever term is current.

A QB is a football player, look beyond skin color !
