Black QB in the Superbowl

I played Divison I QB and also coached at the Division I level...I am no NFL expert, but I don't think you can say he isn't a top QB just because he isn't a pure passer. I think you would have to ask NFL D-Coordinators who they fear most and I can assure you he is in the Top 10.

if you can beat him by forcing him to throw, what does that tell you? i'd rather have all these guys before vick:

pennington

vick makes bad decisions. he is not accurate. when he does hit the receiver, half the time he throws it too hard. he is a great athlete, no question but he is not a great qb...he is not even a good qb.

You know how there's some great basketball players out there who are white, or even foreigners,that could even be considered a superstar. BUT.........there's ALWAYS an African-American who's just a "bit" better? Well.........the same goes when comparing white QB's to black QB's. There's always going to be a white QB who's just a "bit" better......

What he lacks as a true passer, he makes up with his legs. You can't underestimate the effect that has on a defense's scheme. His running has to be accounted for in a game plan which in turn makes everyone else more dangerous on offense.

Again, you say that you just force him to throw...but don't you think everyone knows that? It is easier said then done. That is like saying "just keep Shaq out of the paint...." or "Just make Jordan pass..."

I think the only QBs I would put in his class right now are the ones still playing:

Brady
McNabb

You can't win a Superbowl with a running QB? How many have tried? I can name a lot more that have lost without a running QB. Of course there hasn't been one...there haven't been running QBs.

What if every team had running QBs and only one team had a drop back passer...wouldn't the odds of the drop back passer ever winning the Superbowl decrease?

Hache...I agree with you. I don't think that is a racist comment. I am by no means a racist.

I agree 100% with your statement. Genetically, black athletes are more athletic. It is just a fact. That may draw some criticism on this board as well, but I don't think that is just an opinion.

But my point is that I think the quarterback position is changing. If the position itself turns into a position where we see more athletic players making plays, black QBs could continue to be successful and transform the position. If that is the case, we may start to see the QBs in the NFL in the same light as the NBA players you speak of.

I am not knocking Brady because he is great and I think any coach would love to have him. But I think Vick's chances would increase drastically if he had the New England defense.

I think in that situation, I would probably go with Manning.

It would be really easy to pick situations where each QB would excel...I sure wouldn't want to defend Vick or Manning.

Brady is great and managing the game and not putting his defense in bad spots. I don't think Manning could be as successful in New England, and I don't think Brady could be as successful in Indianapolis. They both fit their systems well.

With that being said, I don't think Brady or Manning could have Atlanta in this position.

I'm not saying the guy isn't talented but he is not a top QB in this league by a longshot.

He is an excellent athlete but it takes more then that to win in this league. Look at some of the greatest QB's of all time, most weren't that atheltic or even close to being as athletic as Vick. The point is though it takes much more & right now he doesn't have the much more but he could have it.

As far as the Pats defense goes, hmm when he beat my Rams late, it wasn't the defense that got the game won. Hell the Rams were marching up & down on them by the end of the game. He won it for them.

I would not take Vick at this point if you gave me his services for free.
