ESPN is claiming they've agreed to part ways, Belichick still wants to coach and anyone who hires him will not have to compensate the Patriots (Belichick is under contract)

I'm surprised Kraft is making this call. Either Bill refused to give up GM responsibilities or there's a coach out there Kraft wants (Vrabel?)

It's the end if an era. There will never be another 20 year dynasty. Now the roster becomes much more important 😀

What does that last part mean ?
The roster used to not be important ?

from what I read . BB was more than willing to give up GM duties . Kraft basically said thanks but no thanks anyway

I would rather vrabel over mayo

They better draft Daniels . They will regret it for 20 years if they don’t

They were terrible this season but a lot of this has to do with age. If Bill was 57 and not 72 he wouldn't be close to the hot seat until he had another 2 more seasons or so like this last one. With that said I would make the change also.

If another team brings Bill on i'll say its a mistake. You don't bring a guy in year 1 at 72.(imo)

Bill ought to retire
He wants Shula's all-time wins record because he still holds a grudge with a dead guy.

But to be serious I can understand how he doesn't want it to end like this...This part will sadly be very remembered by many, mostly because Tom left and had such great success.

He’s still 15 wins short of the record

that could be 3 or 4 more years of coaching if it’s a bad situation

It would suck to see him still around in 4 years after 3 years of 5 wins or less chasing a record like that when he’s already the coach with more losses then any other in NFL history

Bringing Bill on is the classic case of paying for someone for what they did in the past and not what they will do in the future.

Nuts and bolts---who brings in a 72 year old after a 4 win season and hasn't won a play off game in 4 years(not sure of the exact number of years)

It means X's and O's can win with less talent. Doesn't mean you can win with no talent

Mac Jones cost Belichick his job.

The PK he drafted didn't help. Both contributed to the 8 losses by less than one score debacle

I hope / wish we learn the whole story, not optimistic we will

I hope he never breaks the record. Impossible to say, but if Billy Boy coached in the 70's, 80's, or 90's, he would not have faired well

The Patriots just parted ways with a guy who was my Father Football. I learned what it takes to win on a football field from Billy Belichick. THe guy needed more time (and earned more time in my opinion) to correct the mess that was this year. When is the last time the Pats had a top ten draft pick? Not in this Belichick era. The Krafts should have given him the one more year on his contract.

Honestly, because of the way this move is endorsed my many I hope the guy goes to any one of the AFC East teams (I think Buffalo is most likely), comes back here to beat us twice next year, then takes that team deep into the playoffs. ANY AFC East team.

I love Bill Belichick. He gave me a glorious twenty plus years. Something that was unthinkable before his arrival.

To Chop and Avocado. I owe you guys $200.00 each. (Avocado's is comprised of two $100.00 losses). Is your PM now functional, Av? I want to send cash. Please PM me a mailing address. I'll send your money off tomorrow. Thanks.

Belichick, Vrabel, Carrol....who else? Some good coaches available this offseason.

Kraft should hire Vrabel. No brainer.
