There are inherently a lot of advantages of being an incumbent and having beaten your opponent before, and those are things Democrats have to weigh. If Biden truly does have something like dementia, then he needs to do what's best for the country and resign immediately.

There also is a lot of pressure to not "betray" their identity politics if they do move on from Biden. Looking past a Kamala would raise eye brows
