Nothing is more relaxing than smoking a fat blunt and jamming some music (exactly what I am doing right now...). But, it seems that these days, everyone claims to be the "best rapper alive"....Jay-Z, Lil Wayne are just a few. That is why I have gone out on a limb to rank the top rappers of all time....
1. Tupac- Without a doubt the most influential black individual of this generation. He is what Martin Luther King and Malcom X were, an outspoken, self-righteous leader with a passion for music. He has endless hits with great lyrics, as we all know. However, I believe that he did the best job of getting his point across. He preached peace, equality and gender equity. He has been a huge influence of mine and somebody that I still turn to for solice and advice..R.I.P. 2Pac, we all miss you
2. Dr. Dre- Hard hitting beats, 2 of the best albums ever written (chronic and 2001) and in my personal opinion, the best beat maker ever to brace our presence. If it weren't for Dr. Dre, we wouldn't have half the hits we have today, including all those performed by Snoop, several by Pac and of course Eminem
3. Lil Wayne- He's young and new to the game, but he spits nothing but hot fire. I love listening to Wayne and his lyrics are so deep and well spoken. Carter 1 and 2 are in my opinion 2 of the top 10 albums ever made, great beats (thanks Manny Fresh) and unbelievable lyrics. Lil' Wayne deserves everything he has coming his way, he earned it...
4. Z-Ro- I am from Houston, so of course I am biased on this one. But, Z-Ro is a heavy hitting big man from the great state whose lyrics penetrate deeply. Let the Truth Be Told is on of my all time favorite albums, start to finish (if you dont have it, get it). His voice is so unique and his thoughts are greatly reflected throughout each song.
5. Chamillionaire- Greatest Lyricist of all time, if you don't believe me, check out his freestyle sessions on YouTube....he is unreal, and has been an inspiration of mine forever (I wreck only cause Chamillionaire inspired me)...
7. NaS-Best Rapper to ever brace the East Coast.....
7. B.I.G.- Sorry everyone, I love Biggy Smalls, he is a great rapper and has been so big for the entire East Coast, but his stuff sounds very similar to me. He is very into describing his lavish lifestyle (which I respect, he lived one and was very flashy with a huge self esteem..) but, I feel like he didn't put his entire heart into it, it was more for the money and fame than the message of peace and overcoming the stuggle....Still, R.I.P. B.I.G., you too are missed greatly
8. Jay-Z- Man, you fell off dawg...I loved the previous work, Reasonable Doubt, Volumes 2 and 3, Blueprint 1 and 2 and the Black Album, but since then, it has been nothing but running your business and stacking cash...If you are the best rapper alive, the money wouldn't matter, just marry Beyonce and stop making pop songs....I still love you though
9. Eminem-He does it big for white people everywhere...he proved that color doesn't matter...he wrecks the mic hard and with passion, but I feel like lately his material has been very mediocre and lacking that passion the first 2 LP's had...
I know you cats are going to disagree, and I respect that. Realize this is merely my opinion, I'd like to know how you all feel and who you believe has been the biggest influence to the rap game....Holler at me tho...
