if...if...if... that is a LOT of ifs. let's change their names from Trojans to the battling ifs. Hey, if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

Good grief, that arguement is just pitiful.

LSUPete:

Don't be surprised as all Scott has is if if if instead of just dealing with the FACTS!

LSU was the stronger team, beat better opponents, was in a better conference & earned their title in the ONLY recognized national championship game in div 1-A cfb!

USC had to win a title from the media who usually is clueless about these things to begin with & they only got that because they were the first to lose out of OU/LSU & themselves.

I agree EGD

1. Only one team finished 13-1 last year. Among those wins are UGA (twice), Ole Miss and Oklahoma. USC beat....um, gimme a minute...ummm, well, Auburn, but really, who didn't? One team played a tougher schedule, defeated a tougher opponent in the BCS National Championship Game and hoisted the crystal football. That team is rightfully the national champion.

2. We will never know if USC would have beaten another opponent in the Pac-10 Championship game.

3. If USC claims a top poll finish as a "national championship", then they have to recognize that they only have a partial, minute share of the championship. The AP poll is a component of the BCS, as is the coach's poll, as are all of the computer polls. LSU won the computer polls, the coach's poll and the overall BCS championship that even USC agreed to (thank YA'LL for the vote, btw).

WHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEE!

It ain't even the middle of August yet and we are arguing College Football, the greatest sport there is.....I LOVE IT!

As my name implies, no need to guess who I think would have won (handily) if USC and LSU played last year (USC), but I choose not to argue against LSU (2nd best team in the country) because they stepped up and won when they needed to, in a very impressive fashion (against the non-champion of the most overrated conference in history, the Big 12).

Bottom line is, we all got screwed, because if there was one game at the end of the year to decide it all, it would be perhaps as big as the superbowl.

I'm FIRED Up for college football, I'll be giving y'all my weekly Pac 10 plays, soakin up the info you got for me, and we all cash.

BTW, Pete, my Beavers are coming to Cajun' Country in Week 1, and while I won't bet them straight up, I'm taking the points (17 last I checked).

One more thing.....

USC would be lucky to get 10 on LSU. Look what they did to the #1 offense Oklahoma at the time.

LSU 24-7 is more like it.

I am heavy on VT +17.5 over USC. I was browsing 5 Dimes & see the line is down to USC -15.

WC, you ignorant fool, you KNOW that you're my buddy. However, I fart in your general direction.

I said several weeks ago that Oregon state will cover that number. However, they are only going to do it through a "back-door" cover. I expect the Tigers to use their ground game and pound some sand into the Beaver's ass. Actually, I feel sorry for OSU. It is going to be hotter than Hell on a Sunday during that game and I promise you that the Beavers are not ready for it.

I also will be on the Hokies, because I truly believe that USC will take them lightly. Dare I say straight up....yep.

OU was NOT the best offense at the time. NO WAY!

Why do you think OU had the best offense?

OU did not even have a running game and their OL was average at best. That is the #1 offense to you?

Before you throw out the offensive numbers OU put up all year, take a look at this stat.

75% of the Big 12 conference last year finished in the bottom half of the nation in total defense and 5 of those teams are in the bottom 25%.

Still impressed by OU offensive numbers?

Not to mention the #1, #2, and #3 teams in the Big 12 all losing their bowl games.

Big 12 was the 5th best conf. last season.

Keepy hyping LSU beating OU. OU got SMASHED by KSU and LSU beat OU by a touchdown? KSU beat OU 35-7! OU did not even win their conf.

good freakin' Lord .... you'll should EXPECT these sorts of arguments from the other side as long as we've got this fukked up "system" in place

a simple, four team playoff would have yielded us USC/LSU last year and there would be NO debate --- but that's half the "fun" of college football, since it's so damn flawed we're stuck with this garbage

PS) when did anyone ever annoint Jim "shrimp in the box" Rome a football expert??? what's next, is someone going to quote Beano "rust belt homer" Cook????

now if you want to see a real funny debate, head over to a UGA or Auburn board and ask this question:
"Who was the better RB, Bo or Hershel???"
then DUCK ... get out of the way and watch the bullets fly ...

That is correct.....LSU was 13-1 last year.

Think of how stupid you are gonna feel when you check their schedule from last year.

LSUPete, you have been here a long time and your posts are some that I look for the most. I have a ton of respect for your knowlege of LSU and the SEC.

However, on the subject of last season's final records, your math is a little off. There are 2 teams that went 13-1 last season.

Oklahoma was the #1 scoring offense as of the second they stepped on the field to play LSU. They were the #1 total offense pretty much all season but the #'s got a little messed up as bowl games were included in the official stats so some teams moved up & down.

LSU played better teams & had a much more quality loss then Cal. A national championship team doesn't lose to a barely average Cal team.

USC got gift wrapped a title but most of you west coast people won't ever admit that eventhough it is the truth.

Sorry to make you feel stupid, but only 2 teams went 13-1 last year.

LSU 13-1
Miami OH 13-1

Both leagues have championship games.

USC was only 12-1

Yes, to my knowledge there are no other Boise State Universities.

hey -100k by Xmas,
if you think that the Boise State team of last year was a legit "player", you need to hook me up with your dealer ------ Boise State teams have scored lots of points over the last few years, but they haven't played a schedule worth a bent mule's dick along the way
