I don't think so. There is just no motivation to go play at ND anymore.

Scott4USC,

dont' tell me you think the media poll is the best in football.

Come on, every year they latch onto a team and claim for them to be the best thing ever. Last year USC may have been the best team (i don't think so, but a split was necessary) but the media was all over them and wouldn't let them fall.

One more thing, I think if LSU would have lost earlier in the season than USC lost then the media would have been all over LSU and had them number one. USC early lost allowed them to climb back to the top as where if they lost after LSU there is no way they would have jumped LSU back to the top.

But then again with all the west coast bias, USC could have had an even bigger margin of #1

If Jim Rome said it then go the other way... most of the media couldn't find their way home without leaving bread crumbs... Both teams were outstanding and the NCAA needs to set up a playoff system.

The SEC last season was a much better conference that the Pac-10. LSU had a tougher schedule than USC. LSU beat an excellent Oklahoma team and USC beat a Michigan team that was a little overrated.
LSU would have hung right in there with USC if they played-we'll never know!

As far as this year goes-USC has an easy schedule compared to everyone else. It's taylor-made for a back to back. V Tech at a neutral site, @BYU and Colorado St. shouldn't pose much of a threat. VT and CAL are the only teams that will give USC a game the way I see it!

After what Cal did to the Condoms last season, look for USC to PUMMEL them. if i am pepet carroll all i do is show my guys the tape of last year's game. that will get them fired up enough as is. VT won't be too much of a hurdle.

and if there had been a TRUE college playoff, the title of this thread would have been:

Back-to-Back-to-Back

usc would have cleaned the field with the b(f)uckeyes in the fiesta bowl game the b(f)uckeyes played against miami and last season lsu would have been a very tough battle - especially in NO - but usc would have won that one, too.

if williams comes back (he should - but since the NCAA has its head up its ass - that is ???able) USC gets a HUGE boost.

gator - i am gonna kick your ass in the poker toueny on saturday at the party in a few weeks!

Winky,

i agree with you about the NCAA.....but not in this spot. That kid hired an agent, dropped out of school, flew all over the world on his agent's tab, took money, entered the draft.....and didn't like the hand he got dealt. TOUGH TITTY! He should quit wasting his damn time in summer school and start looking for an arena team to join. Besides, USC will not need him.

AND, if USC had played LSU, Williams would have been blanketed by one of the two best corners on any team in America......and that's the truth.

Aren't you ready for some college football?

he did all that AFTER the NFL said to him, "come join our league and enter the draft." he didn't hire an agent/drop out of school until AFTER getting permission from the nfl to do so. so he SHOULD be allowed back into the Ncaa to play for the condoms. he was just following the guidelines set forth by the nfl. and if he isn't allowed back to play CFB - i hope he sues the ncaa and nfl.

LSU is the Champs. I will not debate this.
LSU would've handled USC last year. Look at both teams' schedules.
Scott, be glad you didn't get the chance to play them last year, b/c you wouldn't get to share anything.

FOR USC TO SCORE ONLY 28 POINTS ON U OF M,

and 7 of those were a gift, if michigan would of just kicked field goals, they would of had a chance to win that game.

lsu corners would shut down usc, if usc had trouble against california, christ lsu would of destroyed them.

best damn defense i have ever seen in college, ever.

screw oklahoma vs florida st too.

Stop the bullshit about USC possibly being B2B2B champions if a playoff system was in place. They fucked up atleast once in each of the last 3 seasons & now we should believe that they wouldn't have fucked up in a playoff system?

Get real!

Where has USC fucked up? EARLY IN THE SEASON

Where has USC played their best football? AT THE END OF THE SEASON!

Where would the Playoffs take place? AT THE END OF THE SEASON

In the last 2 years USC has not lost in the 2nd half of the season and has beaten every opponent by double digits including 2 BCS Bowl Opponents!!

USC has won 27 of their last 31 games!!!

The average USC loss was only 4pts!!!!

USC plays in a watered down conference so of course the record is quite padded when you get to feast on clowns like Stanford, Washington, Arizona, etc....

These teams have been mediocre to say the least of late.

It still took the bs media to hand a title to USC or they wouldn't have any piece of a title this year.

I would be so proud to win a title from the media instead of a real title game.

LOL

You would rather win a title from the computers vs the national media?

Both Coaches poll and AP poll felt USC was by far the #1 team in the country. It was not even a close vote. Coaches poll after the bowl games were "FORCED" to vote LSU #1 and a few coaches STILL voted USC #1.

In addition, LSU SOS was "ONLY" 8 pts higher than USC. Thought the SEC conf. is so superior? ONLY 8 pts stronger and LSU BENEFITED FROM HAVING THE DIV. 2 opponent they beat NOT counting against their SOS. USC had EVERYTHING go against them in terms of SOS and computer polls and LSU finished only .16 BCS pts ahead of USC. VERY VERY SMALL MARGIN!

That said, I along with the majority recognize both USC and LSU as National Champs.

all you had to do was beat california, you were
a two two touchdown favrorite. You had no title
game, after all who would you play? The pac ten
sucks and you got penalized for it! You had a
good team and Lsu had one as well and i would give anything to see it! Look up what lsu did to
Arizona too easy!!!!

All the voting was to show we needed a new system. When the votes were counted they new
Lsu had the championship and they were giving your boys a share.....

Scott, one thing you forgot to include in your post is that the BCS DID penalize LSU.

You spoke of our SOS only being 8 points higher and that translated into a computer margin of only .16 points. However, We got absofuckinglutely ZERO credit for the ass-beating we put on Georgia in the SEC Championship game. If the BCS had awarded us points for that win , as well as the strength of opponent (Georgia was in the top ten at the time), we would have been LEAGUES ahead of USC.

If Washington St. starting QB did not get hurt againt Washington in the last game of season WSU would have won. Despite that, WSU still managed to have a lead over UW with less than 3 min. left in the game but UW had a game winning TD drive to win game. If WSU won the game, USC would have received .5 QW pts PLUS addition SOS pts + computer ranking pts. I think LSU was the team who was fortunate!!!!

Want more evidence?

BYU had MULTIPLE injuries after losing to USC and it hurt their season. I think they lost 1 or even 2 starting QB's and other key players were out of the season for BYU. That hurt USC badly.

Both ND and Hawaii tanked at the end of year to hurt USC SOS and computer pts.

Both UCLA and Oregon St. lost the game prior to playing USC hurting USC SOS and computer pts.

All would have easily put USC ahead of LSU according to the BCS formula. Everything went against USC last year.

Cal beat USC in triple OT and Cal kicker made 52 yard FG in game and game winning 40 yard FG. LSU was fortunate to beat Georgia (1st time) despite being OUTPLAYED and Georgia kicker missing 3 or 4 FG's. LSU AGAIN was fortunate that the OLE MISS FG KICKER (WHO IS GREAT BTW) missing 2 FG's that he normally makes. LSU beat OLE MISS by only 3pts.

That said, LSU made it to BCS title game fair and square, but LSU was the more fortunate team. Despite everything going against USC, USC was only .16 BCS pts behind LSU.

SEC supposedly had a strong year last year and Pac 10 supposedly was weak last year. LSU was only .16 BCS pts ahead of USC!

People always say USC lost to pathetic CAL team or 14pt favorites how could you lose. PEOPLE FORGET LAST YEAR WAS A REBUILDING YEAR FOR USC. USC WAS STARTING A BRAND NEW QB AND BACKFIELD! IT WAS ONLY USC's 4th game of season and CAL played great and CAL has an EXCELLENT head coach. Remember, CAL had played 5 games vs USC having played only 3 games before they met. Tedford scheduled that on purpose! Very smart man! Give CAL credit! Watch out for CAL this year!
