Attention: The General

First of all read the latest thread, try to put two and two together. Thats all I will say on the subject for now. BTW. I really am a Nam vet. 2nd Squadron, 7th Air Cav. 101st Airborne, believe what you want. I even have a letter from Richard Nixon thanking me for helping to maintain the security of the nation during a critical time in its history, blah, blah. Richard Nixon, Commander in Chief. Anyway, I am not trying to impress you, so you can think anything you please.

Not to doubt you, but in another thread, you told OU that you were in country in '68 I believe. Nixon, wasn't sworn in until Jan. '69. How does that work?

Let me tell you about Military Awards and Decorations, First you earn them and then they catch up with you later. In my case, I went to boot camp in July of 1967 and arrived in Viet Nam in Jan. 1968, rotated in Jan 0f 1969, I got reassigned to Germany from Feb. of 69 until July of 71. At that point July of 1971, I recieved my Honorable Discharge. The date of Nixons letter is Dec. 21st of 1970. I recieved it while I was with NATO in what was then West Germany. All other decorations I or anyone else recieved worked the same way. In the movies you see these battlefield medals being pinned on guys, but in the real Army paperwork is necessary and it takes time, especially in the armed forces. OK.
