Lander,

You obviously dont win at the books you bet at. If you did, you would know about being knocked back, betting limits and accounts being closed.

If this was happening to you, you would understand the game a little better.

Yeah, obviously

I know you are, but what am I?

Is that the extent of you Irish ways?

No wonder the English despise you - you're filthy uneducated wankers.

As I said, your posts say it all.

Firstly, try writing English thats understandable. Secondly, I hope your bets have more thought behind them than your assumption that I am Irish, I happen to be English.
Also, coming from a person who claims to be smart, dont you think your last sentence says it all.

Are you saying that you're stupid AND Irish? Are those even mutually exclusive terms?

God no, I claim to be successful, not smart

Does anyone here know "Revere14 personally"

Was he at the RX party in Vegas?

Ok, Does anyone correspond with "Revere 14 by email"

Does anyone KNOW where "Revere14 " actually lives?

I wonder if he is a long lost relative of Paul?

Tough call on this stuff. When things like this hit the forums it's hard for a book to win. Some will pull for the book and some for the player. That's why I say in life do what you think is best and let the chips fall where they may. You try and make everyone happy you will drive yourself crazy.

This is indeed a very interesting post, Lander. I decided to stop by and chime in, firstly because you asked me to, but also simply because this issue attains the very nature of this industry. I would like to clear up one thing as well: the following post is based merely on my personal opinion.

I think I have stated this in the past; above all rules, tacit and written, there’s one golden rule: DO NOT GET GREEDY. While ambition is healthy and probably what ultimately drives any business man; GREED gentlemen, grows like a cancer and like a cancer becomes pernicious of your self.

Reviewing the 2 situations at hand, I would not be prompt to judge any of the players and posters involved in them, for I do not know the details in depth. Furthermore, if the top guys at WSEX and RIO decided to pay the guys, I firmly believe they must have reasons of weight. The obligation of a player as a player is to look for an edge, a factor that could increase his edge. In both cases the guys have used grey areas to find loopholes in the structure of the books. And the obligation of the books is to eliminate those gray areas.

We could discuss endlessly about the legitimacy of this type of events. But we all know all this boils down to ETHICS and unfortunately, in that field everybody has different values. I’m not here to be judgmental. I’m not here to point fingers at anybody. I’m here to ask you all fine gentlemen one simple question:

Is the ultimate purpose of the forums to become a way of extortion against the books?

I would dare to say NO. We have had a few disputes with different customers of ours in the past, but our main interest, as well as the player’s was to reach a REASONABLE solution, where both parts were beneficed. And the dispute was never aired in a forum.

Now, I have had the chance to read all kinds of posts regarding this issue. I’ll try to summon them all (once again, this is what others have posted and how others may have perceived the parts involved in these situations):

The books, that were extorted to a certain extent.

The players involved. As I have said before; I would never dare to judge anybody, even if I knew all the details. These guys have been called “angleshooters”.

And those players that would never try to play in the ways exposed.

I hope we never cease to understand us all, players and bookers as part of a community. If we do things to attempt against the well-being of one player or one book, we’re attempting against the well-being of us all.

I will also quote a couple of posts that I have found to be very interesting and that I believe will provide us all with some food for the thought:

Wil,
Are you running for office?
icon_wink.gif

Seriously, Wil - you are a pretty straight shooter, but I can't imagine these books giving in for any reason other than to save face on the forums when the scammers turn around and falsely slander them. It's probably cheaper to be extorted than it is to lose post-ups.

The part that amazes me the most is that the number of honest punters on these forums is so small ... I can only think of Hungover, Wil, SPV, TTinCo, and surely others that didn't speak up ...

I could NEVER EVER deal with the crap that these books have to put up with, so I guess as Will says - since we're not in their shoes we can only believe these books are doing the best they can.

That said - it's time to sac up books. Doing the right thing will earn you instant respect from the player that you REALLY want - the honest ones.

My main man BTJ:

We've done this before, brother. Look in here: Past discussion on the same issue

I'm glad you liked Maggie. She's truly a hottie.

Lander

I though I had been clear enough. But I guess you're referring to my little willing to be confrontational. Why should I be?

The serious players know what we are all about. Beat us fair and square and get paid. I can only speak for our company. Why should I tell anybody how to run their books? That'd be presumptuous. How would have we handled the situation? We'll cross that bridge when we get there, my man. If we ever do get there.

And please brother, make sure those gerbils last for at least a week. PETA will be on your case soon.

Will from Hollywod writes: >>>>>"We could discuss endlessly about the legitimacy of this type of events. But we all know all this boils down to ETHICS" <<<<

Hollywood, first off, I like the way you write. I have this picture now of you putting the finishing touches on your current literary work, ‘The Existential Being and the Effect of Gambling on His Eternal Soul’
icon_wink.gif

Ethics? Hollywood, we here in the good old USA GAMBLE and we all know our Federal and State gov. don’t want us to – at least online. Let’s suppose someone called you up and told you a person from the state of Indiana - a state that has an anti-online gambling law – has circumvented the “law” and has posted up at your book…for $20,000. This is a rhetorical question but I’m going to ask it: What would you do?
