WOW...no way are you going to hit a monk in Thailand because this country will be the last country you see...you will rot in jail....
My experiences with these guys are that only a few of them will talk with you or even smile at you...seems like they think you are invading their turf...
Their compounds where they live are something to see...beautiful buildings and relics....
All the food they recieve every morning goes straight to the temples to feed everyone they can...

I don't want to give the impression that I don't respect other cultures. Experiencing other cultures is one of the main reasons I travel, and I've been to many Buddhist temples and find them awe-inspiring. It wasn't so much as this girl bowing down to the monk, I think it was more the look on his face while she was doing it- like she was beneath him and that he was doing her a favor by even breathing the same air as her that struck me as so wrong.

So my friend that I traveled to Bangkok with left for a few days to go Chaing Mai with a girl he's known for several years, leaving me to fend for myself. Which I did. He just emailed me to let me know he has internet access where he's staying, and I replied with how last night went. It ended up being a pretty long email, so I thought I would post it here to give others who haven't been here yet a taste of what it's like.
Heading to Nana tonight. Soi Cowboy too expensive for me. I went to meet Oui and was running ahead of schedule, so I stopped in at Suzie Wong's just to have a beer, knowing I would buy a drink for the cute waitress. Well as soon as I walked in, they pulled Tam off the stage (the mannequin I barfined the night before) and she came and sat by me and knowing I was leaving in 30 minutes was begging me for ST. I ended up offering drinks to Tam, cute waitress and a fat waitress who kept asking me to kiss her the night before. Apparently Tam gave me a good review (much power- thank you Pfizer) and everyone was making a big deal out of it. It was a lot of fun and I'll go back, but it was 1000 baht for 30 minutes.
When I walked into Kiss, I bought 2 drinks for Oui, and a drink for Thuy and the Mama San. Was in there for just over 30 minutes and bill was almost 2000 baht, but included Oui's barfine.
Had an awesome night with Oui. We went to Titanium and watched Unicorn Girls for about an hour and went up and took a shot in the ice bar when she said, "I know disco that is fun, but up to you if you want to go". So of course we went. Inside it was packed and pretty dark but the only thing I wanted to see was right in front of me as Oui was dancing seductively in front of me and rubbing all over me for about an hour. This probably would have went on longer, except that she got hungry, which I found hilarious because she was upstairs eating when I came to get her at Kiss.
So anyway we leave the disco and walked to the food stands by the main road (I have no clue where we were) where I had the best bowl of noodles yet. I had grabbed something quick off a cart on my way to Soi Cowboy so I was stuffed. Oui said "I still hungry. Taxi to Little Italy". Apparently, she's hooked on the rolls there. We get there and she orders four pretty good sized rolls, which we get to go. So we start walking back to the room, she said "Cannot wait, want roll now" and by the time we got to Soi 22, she had already eaten 2 of the rolls, and then it's "Why you make me eat so much?" Anyway, what was already my best night in Bangkok got even better and carried on until she left at 2pm the next afternoon. She started her "perliod" while we were sleeping, but that didn't stop us and by the time she left it looked like someone was murdered on the bed.We exchanged phone numbers and email addresses with the promise that she was going to send me pictures of herself tomorrow. We'll see if they ever arrive. I told her I would come get her again Monday night.
Anyway, I didn't intend to type so much, but just thought I'd let you know that the second time around with Oui (which is her real name, by the way), was even way more awesome than the first time and more than makes up for the busts I've had.

Why didn't you go to Chaing Mai? You missed out on a great spot
And I hope you got your ass down south to the beaches, the parties in Ko Pha Ngan are crazy
