Ace, you've been around the NFL a long time so I like to ask you 3 questions related to each other if I may?
1. This is probably an obvious answer from what I've read in the past but I never personally seen it in football. Here goes;do teams dump games to help themselves in the draft?
2. Assuming this is so leads me to the next question; Indy has absolutely nothing to gain from tonight's game and can actually hurt themselves in the draft by winning tonight. They could be tied at 2nd with 2 losses with Minnesota (who needs a QB) and St. Louis (who could trade the #1 for more draft picks). The Grand Prize this year in the draft is QB Andrew Luck. With Peyton Mannings health up in the air Indy could certainly use the #1 pick. The question is do you think Indy dumps tonight's game?
3. Assuming #2 happens how does a team dump a game, especially one that is on National TV, without it being too obvious? What does the owner say to the GM or coach? What does the Coach say to the team? How does the team accept this when they've been trained and taught all their lives to give 100% and win?
I love to hear your insight and knowledge on what you may have seen over the years on all of this, I think it is a fascinating subject, borders on conspiracy theories and such!!
Thanks in advance........................Bob
