The more i think about it and see the replays the NBA totally did the right thing in suspeding him for the entire season...Unless your under attack physically you just cannot storm into the stands... the fans were still wrong too, but Artest must go...

Maybe I was persuaded by ESPN the night it happened, the talking heads were all criticizing the fans more than anything...

Journeyman... I second your opinion, sir.

Artest is a blight on society and this is what the"kids" have as some of their sports role models

I say B.S., kick his a$$ out out and teach him and the rest of the thugs a lesson!

Bucs,
You're right about the suspensions not being fair -- no way does Wallace deserve 6 games. He should get one or two at the most.

The thug Pacers went into the crowd and attacked fans -- Jackson and Artest should have BOTH gotten the one year suspensions mininum. Oneil's was fair IMO. I didn't see him in the crowd, and the fan shouldn't have been on the floor --- however, assualt is assualt and all of the guilty parties need to be dealt with legally too IMO.

Just because you like these guys doesn't make it unfair. There are a complete embarrassment to pro sports.

This has nothing to do with liking them....I think they deserved their punishment, i just think Detroit is being LET OFF THE HOOK here.....Making as if the big bad Pacers rolled into town, and tore things up......NO PLAYER DESERVES TO HAVE FAN COME AT THEM AND THROW A CUP AND BEER IN THEIR FACE, NO MATTER WHAT..........

And if u think Wallace only deserves one or two games for the way he went after Artest BEFORE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED, then u must have been watching a different game than i was......He didnt just stiffen up against him he shoved him in the throat, looked like he was gonna choke him.......

If this would have happened to Larry Bird, everyone would have had a different perception of it.....granted Bird wouldnt have went into the crowd, but what i am saying is that there is already a bad perception of Artest (deserved), therefore his actions are glorified...

Once again, i will say, i think the Pacers deserved punishment.....but i dont think its right to completely leave the Pistons, and their fans blameless in this matter.........A fan rushing up to the table and throwing a beer on a grown man is gonna get to anyone......

And i dont agree with what some others have said, I doubt where i live in Indiana i can throw a beer in a cops face, and not get SERIOUS trouble for it......

Those sticking up for Artest, sit back and read this about ten times over and over again.

GOOD POINT GENERAL!
If you think for a second that if I threw a bottle of water at a police officer after they were just baited into being in a fight and the officer wouldn't come over and throw my ass down exactly as artest did you are sadly mistaken!

And I can also guarantee the officer would not be suspended without pay for 1 year

I can't believe some of the BS I've read in this thread. General, are you for real? Wallace should have been suspended for the year? For the aggressive shove on Artest that happens at least once a week in the NBA?

And what is all this sympathetic bs for O'Neal punching the guy who was confronting Artest. Unless there's some video I haven't seen, the guy was just mouthing off. As if he was threatening whasoever.

LETS LEAVE THE RACIAL STEREOTYPES AND PROFILING OUT OF THIS PLEASE....

THANK YOU

I thought I'd pre-empt the replies of all the horrified PC posters with a clarification of my comments.

I'm not painting all black athletes with the same brush here. The overwhelming majority are solid citizens and act accordingly. I'm talking about the hoodlum element that consider such gangsta behavior acceptable, cool even.

I'm talking Sprewell, Ray Lewis, Rae Carruth, Randy Moss, David Terrell, White Chocolate, Tommy Kane, etc, etc, etc. More NFL examples because I follow it a lot more, but I'm sure there are just as many punks in the NBA.

The suspensions were not harsh enough. The fan deserves no blame. The penalty for throwing a half cup of ice at the court is that he is pointed out and asked to leave the arena - not attacked by an overpaid undereducated thug that thinks he deserves "respect".

What in the hell were those fat asses doing on the court. Only one way to prevent it from finding out, taking matters into your own hands. Suspensions were way too harsh.

This is one of the arguments that pisses me off. At that point, after the players had gone into the stands and there was brawling there, hell, I'd go on the court just to get away from that. And if by chance I started mouthing off to Artest and O'Neal came over and gave me a punch like that, unprovoked... I'd LOVE IT... because I would have just hit the jackpot. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

anybody who thinks the suspensions are fair, im going to get 5 feet away from you with a 16 oz solo cup full of mountain dew and ice and splash it straight in your face. then im going to laugh at you and walk away.

and you wont do a damn thing to me becuase you wouldnt want to risk being a hypocrit. right? no its not different becuase hes a milliona-- i mean athlete. (yeah thats what you meant to say!)

you guys make 'let he without sin cast the first stone' look like a side joke in a candy wrapper

stern has ruined the leauge, not the players.

actually i take back what i said above becuase it is true this guy has quite the track record and that is why he got season and jackson only got 30. first time occurance mr rap album boy probably only gets 30 as well

it is amazing to think that dennis rodman never got in this much trouble, but he always did have that feminine side to him to keep him from being too much of a brute

also, this saturday night please strongly consider getting ppv 49.95 channel 101 on your direct tv reciever it will be a wwe batle royal between carl everett, ron artest, big papi and francisco of the rangers. nothing will stop the 4 from throwing cell phones, chairs, drinks and bags of bats at each other.

actually i think that reject who played for the mets and got fired by arizona before even coaching 1 game is ten times worse than a guy like artest but sitting in the dug out he never really got a chance to do things like beat up drink tossing fans

Rob, I think it is David Stern who saved the NBA. Look at what the NBA was before Stern became commissioner. All Pacer suspentions are fair. Without exeption players NEVER NEVER charge the stands. There are other people there that would have dealt with that fan.(security) And that player who has had been suspended 12 times in a single season before know this, and deserves to be gone for the season.
