Fishhead and Stealth, you broke down your gambling, yet you didn't give us the most important, which is the final result, UP or DOWN overall

I hope to God you dont think I lost more at poker than I made at sports and at the casino!

I built a substantial bankroll from online casinos. I now have some of it "invested" in sports. This accounts for me being ahead.

well, there have been numerous posts of people stating how they did for a period of time, but not stating their total result, whether they were up or down, so I won't include them.

But if I only include the posters who gave an answer, then so far, the result is 11 lifetime winners, and 5 lifetime losers. WOW!!

That means that so far, out of 16 confirmed answers, 69% of RX posters are lifetime winners. So much for the 98% of all gamblers lose in their lifetime.

The only explanation I see so far is that the winners are the ones responding here because they are proud to tell the world they are up, and the ones that are down are keeping it to themselves It is the only explanation I can come up with..

I made my first bet during the 1965 College Football season. Notre Dame Vs. Michigan St. It turned out to be the famous 10-10 tie between the number 1 and 2 teams in the country that year. I had Mich St. plus 4 for 5 bucks. Since then my figure is a little hazy, but I know I started up $5.00 almost 40 years ago.

I've been gambling in brick-and-mortar casinos since before I was legal, and am way, way up. Online casinos I have only been playing in for a few years and I am up if not dramatically so. Sports betting I am up since I started hanging out here in early '01, but that includes offsetting some pretty ugly overall losses from when I first started sports betting in 1997 -- in fact I only hit the break-even mark during the past MLB season for combined lifetime sports betting.

But the future is bright

sports - down a bit (up last 4-5 years)
casino - up slightly
poker (home, online, casino) - up

overall lifetime gambling combined - up.

recouped most of the losses in my early years within the last 3 years. given the NUMBER of games i probably lost back then, i'm glad i was a poor hs/college student otherwise i may not have been able to turn that negative sign into a positive one.

Well maybe I'm just a newbie but Lifetime I would say:

Casino
- I'm down about $2200 or so (land base casino + online casino)...I lost $300 the other day going with couple buddies at the casino; should've quitted while I was ahead

Guess greed always gets the best of you! Lost alot playing casinos online with the sportsbook when I was like 16 to 18...but lost only a few bones at land-based casinos as well...

Poker- I'm down $200 or so...was just playing it online to try things out. Haven't been able to play it real life in any casino, but would love to give it a go.

Sports betting - I'm down about $2500 or so the last 2-3 yrs in wagering...but have been doing well lately though and can easily recove...however those 2nd half betting in nba and/or chasing killed me numerous times

Although I do wish I never gambled I must say it is fun and exhilirating when watching a hockey / nba game or even playing blackjack....I guess its better then smoking or pothead...Could be worse right?

However, when I turn 24 (approx 5 yrs from now) hopefully I'll be UP in sports wagering if I can use propoer money management and not be tempted to chase of course - and maybe about break even for casino and/or poker I'll be content....
