I believe the term marriage should be reserved for heterosexuals to express their love for one another in ceremony. Gays should come up with their own term for their love ceremony. Coupling, joining etc. it should have all the legal ramifications as a heterosexual marriage.

When it comes to human equality there are no opinions, there is only right and wrong.

100 years from now people will laugh at the "opinions" in this thread. Kind of if a thread on "are you for or against slavery" was made at the time of the civil war.

LOL, how predictable. You know someone is throwing the towel in on the discussion when they compare gay marriage to slavery. ROFL. You're just not a critical thinker Justin.

And you're other argument is even more laughable. Because something is morally worse than another, then the lesser moral wrong is not worth concern? Wow, you really
nailed that argument Justin. ROFL.

coming from the homophobe

Great job Justin, when you can't win an argument, just start calling names. You are one brilliant thinker. Way to go.

Oh by the way, just because someone disagrees with gay marriage doesn't make them a homophobe, oh but you already knew that.

it does affect me, and it does affect society at large, for many reasons. Here are just a few:

1. It is an attack against the traditional judeo-christian family unit, which has been the foundation of western civilization for centuries
2. Normalizing gay/bi/trans-sexual/transgender behavior is to "normalize" a lifestyle that is ridden with both physical and mental health issues:

In september of 2010, reuters reported: "nearly one in five gay and bisexual men in 21 major u.s. Cities are infected with hiv, and nearly half of them do not know it". A september 2010 report of the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc) reported : "gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (msm) represent approximately 2% of the us population, yet are the population most severely affected by hiv and are the only risk group in which new hiv infections have been increasing steadily since the early 1990s. In 2006, msm accounted for more than half (53%) of all new hiv infections in the united states..."

a new study by a group of university of chicago researchers reveals a high level of promiscuity and unhealthy behavior among that city's homosexual male population. According to the researchers, 42.9 percent of homosexual men in chicago's shoreland area have had more than 60 sexual partners, while an additional 18.4 percent have had between 31 and 60 partners. All total, 61.3 percent of the area's homosexual men have had more than 30 partners, and 87.8 percent have had more than 15, the research found.
As a result, 55.1 percent of homosexual males in shoreland -- known as chicago's "gay center" -- have at least one sexually transmitted disease, researchers said.
The three-year study on the sexual habits of chicago's citizens will appear in the upcoming book, "the sexual organization of the city" (university of chicago press), due out this spring.

3. Since we are now "normalizing" gay marriage, polygamy and pedophilia are next, mark my words, it is already happening.
4. Gay adoption is child abuse.

People that think parenthood belongs to heterosexual couples are one and the same as slave owners.

:think2:

not sure what notion is more bizarre....this ridiculous one or the notion that a gay couple adopting an unwanted child is child abuse? keep em coming though....love hearing diff opinions on issues that don't affect 95% of us

Describe to me the counseling a gay "married" couple would receive when one partner has a terminal illness. The TRUE church and bible are the only salvation. Unfortunately the couple has shunned the TRUE church and bible, and in turn, the TRUE church and bible will have rightfully shunned them. Their final days shall be the darkest of the dark. The day shall come, as all days do. The present day lawmakers will be nowhere to be found to help them in their final struggles.
It is truly amazing how water finds its' own level.

[h=1]Romans 1:24–27[/h]
24 Therefore aGod gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be bdishonored among them.
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for 1a alie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, bwho is blessed 2forever. Amen.
26 For this reason aGod gave them over to bdegrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is 1unnatural,
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, amen with men committing 1indecent acts and receiving in 2their own persons the due penalty of their error.

I am old enough to remember when gay rights advocates wanted nothing to do with marriage (and can still find 50 examples of this) and so I don't take these comments seriously.

I am 100% opposed to gay marriage and I think in 100 years the people looking back will wonder why a certain segment of the population became so obsessed with what is, by any measure, a silly idea.

Remember, you're being called that name by a 22 year old kid.

I wouldn't presume "know" has anything to do with it.

It's a generational issue. As us older Dinosaurs die off, and the Younger people rule, it will be even more of a non issue, at least in the US. And the western world. in general. Sure, you'll have a small minority of people that won't progress. But it'll be smaller and smaller, and more and more insignificant.

Everybody has the right to be happy.

If that makes two people happy, who am I to tell them "No"?

There are plenty of NAMBLA "couples" out there where both sides claim that their man/boy relationship makes them both happy. Who are you to tell them no?
