Guys I want to thank you for your comments with an added from my post on here to where I am now has been a real journey. The maybe going home in 3 days changed to 19 days as I had a turn for the worse and was facing death. One night I broke out in a real bad sweat, chills, shaking and so bad that I went to locker to get my coat to put on.
The Italian/Irish stubborn me didn't call nurse and good thing she came in when she did or chances are I wouldn't be writing this.
Dr came in with two Respiratory Techs and he told me "your body is in a bad state of stress and you're deteriorating. You need 16 litres of oxygen.
When they were wheeling me down the hall I noticed my finger nails were once again bluish gray.
Want to keep this as short as possible.
I'm very very fortunate that I have no underlying medical issues now or from past and because of that two Dr's suggested that I be put in ICU-X instead of ICU. Infectious Disease Specialist gave the thumbs up. Single two doored room with a high level oxygen setup (forgot name ).
They got my numbers down only to have them rise again so there was concern as Respiratory told me. The next day they improved and continued to improve that I was then moved from there to a COVID 4 patient room. Keeping story as short as possible I was released to go home April 12th and with a needed 3 litres of Oxygen. Reason I was released at three is because Dr said they had a meeting and that I was their healthiest, most determined patient and that I could manage with home oxygen plus they needed the bed which I know to be true because my three day nurse told me day before that there's people on stretchers lined up in the halls and they can't accept any more patients.
First weeks at home was hard, we had to put my needed up to four litres from the needed three they had me on. As of this writing I'm progressing daily and now on a needed two litres. Still a way to go but I'm home and alive and not wanting to go backwards.
I had a buddy go in hospital April 19th and with just symptoms. He was doing OK with a possible going home until he took a turn for the worse. He was put in ICU April 26th after doing a Face Time with his family. He passed away yesterday April 29th.
Guys and your families, please be as safe as possible and then some. This virus/variant doesn't care what anyone's thoughts are. If it gets you you better hope you don't have any underlying medical issues and have to be mentally strong.
I'm so looking forward to May contest.
Thanx again, CHEERS
