Skinny Dugans is still alive and modestly thriving. Its now owned by Terry Caudill, who also owns the Four Queens Hotel and Casino and Binion’s. The Tap House is just up the street and also still alive. Not much has changed at The Tap House; its still caters to the Browns and Ohio State. Weekends are busty for both establishments. Our Lady is alive and well. Many of the families in the area still frequent the church; however, now its predominately their kids and grand kids going to church. Frankies (on Charleston) is now an award winning Tiki Bar, which kept the name Frankies, and rebranded to Frankies Tiki Room. The Huntridge Bar remains operational and unchanged. Further West on Charleston, there was a bar named Boodles, which sold about 2 years ago to Mike Kelly; the same Mike Kelly (now deceased) that owned and operated Kellys Casino. His son is the proprietor of Kellys; formally Boodles.
Everything on the strip has changed since I've been here and Derrick Stevens and his brother are largely in control of Fremont Street, as they now own the majority of hotel/casinos down there, along with the number of corresponding board seats.
I love the reflection of the past found in this thread. It really makes me thankful that people too so many pictures of Vegas in the 60s, 70's and 80's, as its hard to fathom just how quick Vegas has changed.
Unrelated, can anyone make out the name of the person Billy Walters is playing golf with in his 60 Minutes interview? Is it Gene (something)? What casino did he own/operate?
