Simply incredible. Thanks so much for those links. These guys make unbelievable music. I will be buying this cd as soon as it comes out, and I haven't bought a cd for years. Anyone know when they go on tour next?

One more for you guys. This is song called Mercy which is not even on the album. It will be a Bside for a single and probably the best Bside you ever heard

I know this is a crazy story but they were actually at my Dad's 2nd wedding in Kansas City at the Ritz Carlton in 1995 (had to be 95 or 96). They were actually on a break and they had rented out all the bridal/honeymoon suite rooms at the hotel. One of my step mother's friends was a longtime DJ in Finland or Norway (somewhere over there) and went crazy when she found out they were up there. I guess they felt bad about taking the rooms because they came to the reception and signed autographs and stuff and went to the dinner at an Irish pub in KC (my Dad is Irish so the Irish pub was no stretch for him). My brother and I were like "U2 is at our father's wedding...what's next?"

Two things stood out for me that weekend. First the limo they rented (I assumed they rented it) was a monster stretch job with an open air hot tub built into the vehicle. The second thing was when we first got to the Ritz to check in a Winnebago pulled up (this is at the RITZ CARLTON mind you) with a big sign on the side of it that said "Almost Willie". This guy, a dead ringer for Willie Nelson, jumps out of the Winnebago and books it into the front desk area to check in. You should've seen the valet take the keys from "Almost Willie" and try to figure out where he was going to put the thing. To this day my family still wasn't sure if that really was Willie trying to be incognito or what. How many Willie Nelson imposters have you seen check into the Ritz?

I know it's insane...I wouldn't believe it if I wasn't there to witness it.

Note quite as good as north and south of the river, or always as B-sides go from U2

I can't wait to buy the cd , U2 is an unbelievable band, their sound is unique and Bono and the Edge are rockandroll legends . There's no guitar player even if the edge riffs are not that complicated that don't apprecciate the simplicity but creative touch of the Edge.

Edge/Bono combo as unique , Edge's guitar sounds, still very different, all these years later..Some singers have emulated Bono's whaling echo's:drink: , but that's to be expected...there was a song out over the summer, the singer sounded very much like Bono..the song escapes me, it was very popular, anyone know what singer I'm talking about?

They are the biggest band alive and yet they still seem as sincere as those goofy looking kids who recorded "Pride" way back when in that old mansion...

Whale, have you seen the live DVD from Slane Castle? If not, get it.

Kite....

IMO , A very underrated U2 mega hit...in the Slane Castle Live Show, Bono dedicates the song to his father who died just days earlier....chilling words to perform, for a man who just lost his father...

U2 Lyrics - Kite

Something is about to give
I can feel it coming
I think I know what it means
I'm not afraid to die
I'm not afraid to live
And when I'm flat on my back
I hope to feel like I did

'cause hardness, it sets in
You need some protection
The thinner the skin

I want you to know
That you don't need me anymore
I want you to know
You don't need anyone, or anything at all

Who's to say where the wind will take you
Who's to say what it is will break you
I don't know, which way the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around
Don't want to see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye

In summer I can taste the salt in the sea
There's a kite blowing out of control on a breeze
I wonder what's gonna happen to you
You wonder what has happened to me

I'm a man, I'm not a child
A man who sees
The shadow behind your eyes

Who's to say where the wind will take you
Who's to say what it is will break you
I don't know, where the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around
I don't want to see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye

Did I waste it?
Not so much I couldn't taste it
Life should be fragrant
Roof top to the basement
The last of the rocks stars
When hip-hop drove the big cars
In the time when new media
Was the big idea
What was the big idea

J MAN,

i loved the song "out of control" at that show . it was the one where bono said thanks to all the parents of the band members for financially backing them at the start.

that song blew the place apart.

direct tv showed that concert for free for a month. they also showed the elevation tour from boston for a month.
