I have the Zags as part of my teaser at +13.5, that shows you how much faith I have in them LOL, North Carolina takes plays off on the defensive end and has been inconsistent on defense so I think the Zags can cover my teaser

While I don't know much about ZAGS NBA talent, I know UNC has little to NONE:

D. Green is the best prospect who currently starts - 6'8" and can run, shoot, and defend

Lawson - stock improving after he developed a decent 3pt shot, but he is still 5'10 and plays no D

Ellington - Mid to late 2nd rounder and will never start a game in his career; slow and can't create off the dribble

Hansbrough - Will be lucky to get drafted; no chance of the 1st round -- Plays no D, below average rebounder, and has absolutely no chance to make a shot outside the paint....he is 6'7" at best and would get dominated anywhere on the floor

D. Thompson - NO

E. Davis - Developing nicely, but doesn't play much

Would love to hear some more about the ZAGS NBA talent as I think this is a key ingredient in winning this tourney; ie:

Kan - 4 NBA players
FLA x2 - 3 NBA 1st rounders
Cuse - Melo and co.

Lawson, Green, T Hans, Ellington all projected first rounders while ED and DT projected 1st rounders 2010.

UCONN ---Thabeet (lottery pick)
A.J. Price, Adrien
(probably 2nd rounders)
Louisville----2 first rounders (Clark and TWILL, Clark has to be lottery, the first time I saw him (NBA came right to my mind, the athleticism jumps off the page for Clark even know there is room for improvement in some areas
Pittsburgh----Blair, Young (1st rounders)---
Levance (Europe maybe), he'll be another Carl Krauser

Thx for the projections again - UNC is projected to win this game by 9pts too.

Disregard the projections....Ellington and Hans have NO NBA skills PERIOD

I'm wondering what NBA skills have to do with anything? That point is always brought up and it's pathetic. Tell me how much NBA quality talent came out of these past champions?

1993 UNC
1994 Arkansas (Williamson was very solid in the pros)
1995 UCLA
1998 Kentucky
2000 Michigan STate (Peterson has been good)
2002 Maryland (Blake is decent, but nothing spectacular)

Those teams had one player that had some impact in the NBA. The difference in college and NBA is leaps and bounds different. Point being it's been proven time and time again teams can win it all with marginal NBA talent on their squad. A team can get hot and win 6 games and might not have a lottery pick on their team.

Of course, Gonzaga can beat UNC. Any team left in the tourney is capable of beating their opponent. If UNC brings their A game (as in the Michigan State game), then it will be an ugly game for Gonzaga. UNC hasn't come close to playing at that level since then, except for the 2nd half of 1st Duke game. When UNC loses, it's because the opposition has a guard that UNC can't stop. Tyrese Rice lit them up in the BC loss. They couldn't stop Teague against Wake. Vasquez torched them in the Maryland game. The same holds true in some of their close victories. Miami's McClinton & FSU's Douglas almost handed them regular season losses. If UNC loses, it will be because of a great night from Bouldin or Pargo. I just don't think either one of them is an explosive enough scorer to do it. The only guards left in the South with such capabilities are Jonny Flynn & Willie Warren.

I forgot to mention about Thabeet. The first time I saw him I thought "what a waste of talent and what a clutz", but he has developed alot in the last few years, props to Calhoun

Heelsman - Shocker you're defending your overrated heels....

I don't know recall all of the rosters from those teams you mentioned, but there is a good chance they each had the most NBA talent in the tourney that year. Honestly, look at the last 5 champs:

KU - Most NBA talent
Fla x2 - "
UNC - "
Cuse - Can't recall all the teams, but Melo and Warrick were 1st rounders

So, the last 4 (maybe 5) champs have had the MOST NBA TALENT. No?

I don't know how Hansbrough is projected 1st rounder, great college player, sure, but he can't even take a hit from Gerald Henderson without being bloody and I even hate Duke

Who said I was defending them? I just laugh at the ridiculous comments that a team absolutely has to have a lot of NBA talent to win the championship. Yes, the last 5 have had some quality players, no doubt about it, but I would imagine there have been many more teams that have had a lot of NBA talent that didn't win the title either. UNC had the most NBA talent in 1998 and lost to a Utah team that had Andre Miller and a gaggle of decent college talent.

I think it's just rather foolish to say "This team is giong to win because they have the most potential NBA talent."

How about we just agree to disagree? Call this UNC team overrated, no NBA talent or however else you want to describe this team. We'll see what happens in 3 nights.

Your name and avatar said you are defending them - Come on.

Who said, "Team X will win b/c they have the most potential NBA talent."

The last 4 (maybe 5) champs have had the most NBA talent - FACT!

I guess you missed my part where I conceeding the past 4 or 5 years those teams had the most talent, but it's not always the case. I don't care how many times you want to type something in all caps. If it makes you feel better I'll just agree with you.

When will I ever learn that sometimes I make a mistake of wasting moments out of my life responding to posts made on a message board?

Part of the fun is building hype for the game. It would be boring if everybody agreed on each side and issue. Once the game starts none of it really matters anyway.

Davis played 25 minutes last game. Lawson will be a mid-first round pick. Wayne and Hansbrough will get drafted late in the first round. Green is a 6'6" senior and will get drafted in 2nd round. Zeller will be a future pro but needs to work on defense.
