Illegal Immigrants' Care Costs Texas $677 Million

Monday, December 15, 2008, 12:10 PM

texashosp1215.jpeg

A new survey conducted by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission says that an estimated $677 million was spent providing health care to illegal aliens. The survey indicated that most of the money - $597 million - was spent during the fiscal year that ended August 31, 2006.
In the fiscal year ending August 31, 2007, the state spent $80 million providing life-saving care to patients living in the U.S. illegally. The money spent was part of the Texas Emergency Medicaid program. Federal law also requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care regardless of citizenship status or their ability to pay.
The Houston Chronicle has more on this story. http://www.numbersusa.com/content/n...-immigrants-care-costs-texas-677-million.html

<!-- end floating resource box -->AUSTIN — The state of Texas and local hospital districts spent an estimated $677 million to provide health care to illegal immigrants in a year, a new study says.
The survey, issued by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, said that most of the money — $597 million — was spent by local hospital districts for the immigrants' care during the state's fiscal year that ended on Aug. 31, 2006.
Lawmakers from both parties said they were not surprised by the millions spent and expressed hope that the report, required by the 2007 Legislature, will help prompt Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
State Rep. Garnet Coleman, D-Houston, said the study only tells half of the story.
He noted that the immigrants contribute to government coffers by paying sales and property taxes.
The report said that in the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2007, the state spent $80 million under the Texas Emergency Medicaid program, which pays hospitals to provide life-saving care, including labor and delivery services, to patients living here illegally. The state also paid $1.2 million to provide services to undocumented immigrants in family violence shelters.
Federal law requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care to anyone needing emergency treatment regardless of their citizenship, legal status or ability to pay.

Harris County's cost

The Harris County Hospital District provided $203.5 million in uncompensated care to illegal immigrants in 2006, the report said.
But county hospital district officials disputed the report's numbers, noting that they were calculated on the basis of charges instead of costs. They said charges are inflated, typically double the actual costs of services to taxpayers.
"The cost of health care to undocumented immigrants is something we worry about, something we monitor, but we don't want to overstate it," said David Lopez, president and CEO of the Harris County Hospital District. "It's not an overwhelming percentage of our budget."
Lopez said the actual cost is 10 to 14 percent of the hospital district's budget, or about $100 million to $120 million.
About 80 percent of the district's illegal immigrant patients were women and children, and most were pregnant women. Lopez said the hospital district was not consulted for the report.
In another sense, the report underestimated the cost of care to illegal immigrants because it did not include figures for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, which functioned like a hospital district by providing safety-net services. It spent $140 million annually on undocumented immigrant care, an official said Thursday.
Gov. Rick Perry is reviewing the report, but had no comment Thursday, a spokeswoman said. Likewise, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, who is considering challenging Perry in 2010, declined comment until she studied the information.

Hoping to send a message

State Rep. Warren Chisum, R-Pampa, the House Appropriations Committee chairman, said the report puts a number on health care costs that the state cannot do anything about.
"Show it to our congressman, I guess. Tell him, 'Merry Christmas,' " Chisum said. "This is something we can look at the federal government and say, 'You guys ought to do a better job of guarding your borders or at least pay for 'em if you're going to allow them to come over here.' "
One of the most prominent critics of illegal immigration, Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, said he is glad that Congress is getting the report.
"I'd like to bill the United States government," he said, "and have them pay Texas for the cost of the benefits that they require us to provide to illegal aliens."
But a report issued two years ago by then-Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn said undocumented immigrants helped to support the state's economy. She said illegal immigrants in 2005 paid $1.58 billion in taxes while the state spent a total of $1.5 billion. Strayhorn said local governments spent $1.3 billion on indigent health care.
Rep. Coleman said he agreed with critics of illegal immigration that the report should be sent to Congress.
"Anything that can move the federal government to have a comprehensive immigration policy that works for this country is extremely important," he said.
Reporters Todd Ackerman, Peggy Fikac and Lisa Sandberg contributed to this article.

I am retired military with 24 years service, combat disabled who has to pay for my health care. I have it from sources that the figures provided by the pro open borders Houston Chronicle are too low to promote it's anti-American agenda. The city of Houston alone spends 660 million dollars and Dallas 475 million dollars annually on illegal alien health care. An Iraq war veteran is facing financial devastation and the loss of his home because of traumatic brain injury forcing his wife to leave her job to take care of her family while an illegal alien with a subdural hemotoma in a Chicago hospital received treatment costing taxpayers 250,000 dollars under medicare (already on the verge of bankruptcy forcing benefits cuts to seniors and indigent Americans which also happens with illegal aliens who give birth while illegally in this country too). Another illegal alien in California received a liver transplant again under medicare costing tax payers 500,000 dollars while a 2 year old U.S. citizen child needing a transplant in New York City had to rely on a fund drive and the benevolence of relatives and friends. A 9-11 rescuer developed kidney disease from his search and recovery efforts but was denied a transplant because he amassed 250 dollars in medical expenses and couldn't afford the procedure but illegal aliens are receiving kidney transplants from the UCLA medical campus again paid for by taxpayers. An elderly US citizen died from cardiac arrest while waiting in an ER flooded with illegal aliens with non life threatening conditions. Our hospital CEO told the media he many have to close our level one trauma center (only one of four in our state) because of uncompensated costs from illegal immigration. Amid all this Pelosi and Boxer tried to provide 6 billion dollars for illegal alien health care while Americans are losing their health care and are forced to file for bankruptcy in creasing numbers when faced with major medical events.
Taxpayers spend 400 billion dollars annually on illegal alien health care, welfare, food stamps, education and birthright citizenship. Much of that is through fraud as 75 percent are involved in identity theft (Justice Department Statistics) to illegally obtain employment, food stamps, welfare and other benefits using multiple stolen social security numbers with many applying for food stamps from multiple locations, falsely claiming 5 children when they have only one and claiming social security including SSI while illegally employed (I have folders full of this as one incident where Maryland state auditors found 52,000 receiving cash assistance, food stamps, welfare and other benefits costing taxpayers 500 million dollars a year). Many clerks have told us they are aware of this but are threatened with disciplinary action if they blow the whistle as one in Oklahoma who actually did, revealing widespread fraud committed by illegal aliens. The LA county supervisor told the media illegal immigration costs county taxpayers 1 billion dollars annually. The Labor Department and IRS estimates 65 percent of illegal aliens are paid under the table in cash with employers and employees not contributing to any payroll or any other taxes. Seventy five percent are using stolen social security numbers so they cannot possibly be paying taxes, and any that do are using an innocent American's identity resulting in numerous Americans billed by the IRS for taxes accumulated by illegal aliens as a lady out of the work force for over 10 years but billed by the IRS for 1.5 million dollars in taxes accumulated by 200 illegal aliens working jobs in 10 different states. Another disabled lady was denied SSI because an illegal alien using her social security number fraudulently applied for social security disability. Americans have lost homes, jobs, seniors were denied medicare, one man was denied unemployment insurance when his job was outsourced and another lady was denied social security when her husband died because 39 illegal aliens used her social security number and now has to beg for money from relatives. Others had property seized due to illegal aliens using their identities to open lines of credit to buy homes (HUD estimates 5 million illegal aliens defaulted on their subprime loans), cars and other major purchases. (I also have folders full of incidents as this too).
I haven't even touched on the impact of crime and resultant incarceration costs (estimated to be over 6 billion dollars annually) and the crimes against Americans. The Justice department estimates 71,000 Americans were killed by illegal aliens through murder, drunk driving, manslaughter and other crimes with many more raped, robbed, molested kidnapped and whose identities were stolen. Border patrol estimates 5,000 to 10,000 illegally cross the border each week with 100 sex offenders daily along with drug cartel, MS-13 gangs and other criminals. Many previously deported returned through our open borders supported by LaRaza, LULAC, MALDEF, big business, The Chamber Of Commerce and Congress only to inflict more pain and suffering on the American people.
Illegal aliens are taking jobs as evidenced by raids throughout the country as the Leather factory in MA, Harris Electrical in MS, Swift Packing, a Parachute manufacturing facility in NC, a Nuclear Power Plant and various military installations near flight lines and other sensitive facilities endangering military personnel and other resources used to fight the war on terror. I don't know about you but I don't have any warm fuzzies when illegal aliens using stolen identities are found on the grounds of nuclear power plants like the ones doing exterior facility maintenance again during a war on terror. But open borders advocates as Sanchez don't feel that is a problem. These raids occurred in high unemployment areas where the vast majority of illegal aliens were found with stolen social security numbers, fraudulent documents and child labor, mental, physical and sexual abuse were prevalent like the illegal aliens at the leather factory disciplined for leaving the line to use the restroom. Americans lined up outside those facilities for vacated jobs stating they supported those raids with many saying they were reapplying for jobs because they were fired and replaced with illegal aliens. Employers also offered higher wages and benefits including retirement at the parachute facility supporting our military. Do we want illegal aliens with stolen identities providing critical support including life sustaining equipment for our military? This facility and the leather factory were DOD contractors. Tell me how legalizing 20 million illegal aliens who will bring their immediate and extended families who will all compete with Americans for what few jobs there are including any arising from the proposed stimulus will help the American people. Those unable to work will be added to our welfare and social security rolls when it faces 53 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. Others unable to find work will be added to our unemployment rolls when state unemployment insurance trust funds are running out of money due to the increasing number of unemployed American requiring assistance. Congress is about to pass the Totalization Agreement with Mexico which will give social security to illegal aliens who were required to pay only 18 months into the system while Americans are required to pay at least 10 years into it and illegal aliens would receive the same level of benefits.
The border contrary to DHS is out of control. Drug cartel violence is spilling into the country and is quickly spreading throughout the US resulting in major drug distribution, identity theft and other crime rings in all our major cities run by the Mexican drug cartels and MS-13. Under manned, out gunned and under resourced border patrol agents and law enforcement authorities are coming under increasing assault from heavily armed Zetas (Mexican military units aiding and escorting drug and illegal alien smugglers) using rocket and grenade launchers, bazookas, high powered automatic weapons, bottles, rocks, Molotov cocktails and other weapons resulting in hostile fire and over 200 incursions on our soil which constitutes an act of war especially during a so called war on terror. Drug cartels have infiltrated our national parks and other federally protected lands posing a danger to hikers, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts as a park ranger murdered by drug cartel members because he unknowingly wandered onto territory controlled by them on our soil. Border Patrol agents also found prayer rugs, uniforms and other clothing with Al Qaeda badges and other insignia depicting aircraft flying into towers (this was found last year) along with parts of IED's bombs, bomb making equipment and weapons as a stash of AK-47's found by a group of children playing nearby. An undercover government security team successfully sneaked enough simulated fissile material to make a nuclear device across an unguarded part of our southern border using a backpack (like the thousands who illegally cross our border every week) right up the steps of the Federal Building in Phoenix. Mexico and other countries are providing financial and other logistical support to Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and other groups who have established a network of training camps throughout Mexico and other parts of central and South America supported by drug cartels and rogue dictators as Chavez who are supplying them with passports and fake visas to gain access to the US. I don't even want to talk about the Cross Border Trucking initiative as that is even scarier as no trucks are inspected. The virtual border fence is a failure as sensors and cameras are constantly out of service for months at a time. Border patrol agents constantly tell us they apprehend hundreds of illegal aliens miles north of the virtual fencing and know they can't catch all of them, saying for every one they catch, four or five evade capture. Why the silence again Sanchez and other open borders advocates? Tell me why it is racist to secure our borders to protect the American people from the scourge of drugs, gangs and prevent another attack like 9-11.
Obama supported social security for illegal aliens who used stolen social security numbers (S-2611 Comprehensive Immigration Reform) and voted against an amendment sponsored by Senator Ensign prior to cloture that would have prohibited illegal aliens from receiving social security and other benefits using stolen social security numbers and would have labeled their use a felony which it already is (class C) resulting in the imprisonment of Americans for 20 years in my area who unlike illegal aliens are separated from their families. Obama also supports taxpayer funded immigration attorneys for those fighting deportation for crimes and others just for illegally being here who are applying for legalization. Americans should not be held morally and fiscally responsible for the conscious, deliberate decisions and actions of those illegally here who violated our borders, sovereignty, laws, use stolen identities and have children at taxpayer expense. Tell me how this is racist? If Obama legalizes the 20 million already here will he legalize the 5,000 to 10,000 on our doorstep the next week, the 5,000 to 10,000 the following week and so on as he will not secure our borders. Rewarding those illegally here by allowing them to stay which is why they violated our laws will only send a signal to the rest of the world that we are not a nation of laws, have no respect for them and will not enforce them resulting in a stampede of untold proportions for the border resulting in a population increase of at least 100 million in the next 20 years (that is if illegal immigration is stopped now)
Our health care, land, food, water, energy and other resources are limited. Unfettered illegal immigration places a tremendous strain on those resources, increases our pollution and adds to our so called collective carbon footprint (why the silence from Gore and other conservation hawks). We cannot sustain the rest of humanity who desires to come here; for a nation without borders cannot exist as a sovereign entity with a never ending flood of humanity destroying our sovereignty and ultimately our way of life.

With high unemployment, NPR's E-Verify ad is a good thing

National Public Radio (NPR) is getting a lot of criticism from listeners about a 10-second E-Verify funding credit that NPR is running:

"Support for NPR comes from NPR stations, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), offering E-Verify, confirming the legal working status of new hires. At DHS dot gov slash E-Verify."

According to NPR's ombudsman, listeners and some radio station managers, "questioned NPR's judgment in running the credit about [the E-Verify] program that employers use voluntarily to check the legal status of new hires." So far, NPR has mostly heard from people who criticize E-Verify, which NumbersUSA considers the cornerstone of the attrition-through-enforcement strategy to replace illegal workers with citizens and legal immigrants.

Please contact NPR and express your appreciation for the E-Verify funding credit. As the unemployment numbers rise, it is good to get the word out to help businesses avoid hiring illegal workers so they can hire unemployed Americans.

  1. Go to www.npr.org/contact
  2. Select either "contact an NPR program" or "contact an NPR office or service"
  3. Write your appreciation for E-Verify and that NPR is doing a public service by running the funding credit.

You can learn a lot about E-Verify here. Below, you will find some relevant facts:
E-Verify Overview (click here for a step by step overview of how E-Verify works)
* E-Verify is a free and simple to use Web-based system that electronically verifies the employment eligibility of newly hired employees -- visit www.dhs.gov/e-Verify.
* E-Verify works by allowing participating employers to electronically compare employee information taken from an I-9 form, (the paper based employee eligibility verification form used for all new hires) against more than 425 million records in the Social Security Administration's database and more than 60 million records in DHS immigration databases. About 96 percent of all cases queried through E-Verify are automatically verified to be employment authorized; those results are returned within seconds.(U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services - USCIS)
* Currently, more than 90,000 employers in every state and U.S. territory are enrolled in e-Verify and, on average, the program increases by about 1,000 new employers each week. Thus far in FY 2009, there have been more than 450,000 verification queries run through the system. More than 6.6 million queries were registered during FY 2008. (Department of Homeland Security - DHS)
* Current law prohibits the use of E-Verify for anyone EXCEPT new hires. (USCIS)
E-Verify Statistics (USCIS):
* Employees confirmed as work authorized instantly or within 24 hours
* 96.1% of employees are confirmed as work authorized before any type of mismatch notice or need for action by the employee or employer
* 3.5% employees receive a final non-confirmation response because they are either not authorized to work in the United States, did not know that they had the opportunity to challenge an initial mismatch (or TNC), or choose not to follow the necessary procedures to prove work authorization after receiving an initial mismatch.
* E-verify is 99.9% accurate for native born American citizens. (2007 study done by Westat that is on the USCIS website)
E-Verify History:
* E-Verify was instituted by Congress in 1996 under another name ("Basic Pilot"). It began as a voluntary pilot project in a few states, then was expanded to all 50 states and was renamed E-Verify recently.
* Section 401 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA - Public Law 104-208) required the federal government to establish pilot programs to verify the employment eligibility of new hires.
* E-Verify is a re-branding of its predecessor, the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program, which has been in existence since 1997
* Participation in E-Verify (formerly Basic Pilot Program) is voluntary and has been available for every business in the country since late 2004

Attn. NCFIRE members,

Below is an article from ILW.com (pro-illegal), about their intentions in the upcoming new Administration. As you can see, they intend to act quickly.

We must be ready to act! Our Senators and Congressmen need to understand that we will not stand for ANY form of amnesty for illegals, benefits for illegals, healthcare (other than life threatening emergency) for illegals, increase in the number of visas for foreign workers, increase in the number of religious exemptions for illegals, or any other legislation that benefits illegals. Unless and until, American Citizens receive these kind of benefits, then no one else should have them.

We will be on top of this and will get the word out as soon as any movement is detected. Be prepared for "Action Alerts" from NCFIRE in the coming weeks. As they say in their closing of their article, "Stay Tuned."

-----------------IMMIGRATION DAILY FROM ILW.COM------------------

December 17, 2008

Santa Arrives Late (How's that for arrogance!)
A recession coupled with scandal after scandal leading the front page news leaves many feeling
glum during this holiday season. There may be relief just around the corner, here's why. We
believe that immigration advocates on the Hill are feverishly working on several variations around
the CIR theme. Bills expected to be introduced early in the 111th session of Congress include: DREAM,
245(i) with an August 2001 cut-off (this was the bill before the House on 9/11/01), healthcare,
immigration relief,re-authorization of the EB-5 program, religious workers, and E-Verify. So far,
so good, you say? Not so fast. One looming obstacle appears to stand in the way of the immigration
benefits wishlist. Anti-immigrationists argue that immigration should not be increased during a period
of high unemployment. The anti-immigrationists are partly correct and for this reason, we suspect that
guest worker programs of any kind will not be passed because Congress does not want to encourage new
immigration competing with the labor pool during a severe recession. However, the immigration benefits
being considered above will not take away jobs but instead will strengthen labor and the economy. We
expect that there is a 50-50 chance that some immigration benefits will be enacted as soon as February
2009 perhaps even as part of the economic stimulus package. Stay tuned.

LA To Vote On Illegal Immigrant Sanctuary Status

<STYLE></STYLE>It doesn't seem right, that in America's second largest city they are going to have a vote whether or not the police department should enforce the law. But that exactly what is going on in Los Angeles, California. An initiative on the ballot for the next election would require the LAPD to identify and deport gang members who are illegal aliens. Some people would say that it is a racist resolution, bit all it is an effort to enforce the law. If it passes look for all hell to break loose:

http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2008/dec/law-deport-illegal-immigrants-makes-l-ballot
Law To Deport Illegal Immigrants Makes L.A. Ballot Tue,Judicial Watch Blog An initiative requiring a sanctuary city’s police depart meant to identify and deport illegal alien gang members got enough signatures to make next spring’s municipal election.
Named after a Los Angeles high school football star (Jamiel Shaw) murdered this year by a previously convicted illegal immigrant gang member, Jamiel’s Law will require the city’s police department to develop a policy to identify, arrest, deport and/or prosecute and imprison gang members who are in the country illegally. The Los Angeles Police Department’s longtime immigration policy is don’t ask don’t tell.
Supporters of the law had a short time to gather nearly 80,000 signatures from registered voters in Los Angeles—long an illegal immigrant haven—in order to put Jamiel’s Law on the ballot in the March 2009 municipal election. The signed petitions were given to the city clerk’s office this week, just days before the deadline.
Many in the notoriously liberal and pro-immigrant City of Angels were outraged when the gang member murdered the teenage prep football star just one day after completing a jail sentence for a previous felony. Because practically the entire state has a sanctuary policy that protects illegal immigrants, the gang banger was released rather than deported.
Had the cops identified the violent gang banger as an illegal immigrant during his numerous encounters with the law, the 17-year-old prep league most valuable player would have gone on to play college football.
Instead the star running back was gunned down in March as he walked home from the mall. Several members from the renowned Hispanic 18th Street Gang pulled up in a car and Pedro Espinoza shot the young jock on the sidewalk. Espinoza had just been released from Los Angeles County jail, where he served time for assault with a deadly weapon.
If Los Angeles citizens pass Jamiel’s Law, thugs like Espinoza will be deported after completing their sentences instead of freed into society to victimize more innocent people. The Los Angeles Police Department will also have to modify its policy (Special Order 40) preventing officers from inquiring about the immigration status of arrestees. Judicial Watch has sued the department over the illegal mandate.

IF a US citizen were to be in Mexico without the proper "papers", they would be in jail and subsequently deported. It's the LAW, follow it !! I'm really tired of people crying "Racist" every time they don't get their way, every time a foul word is spoken to them or every time they break the law. If I can follow the law, then so can everybody else. I'm beginning to truly believe that the "Reconquista Movement" is a real thing.

Below is a call to the "pro-illegal masses," for a rally in Raleigh at 11:00am, on Dec. 24th. For those of you who would like to counter this protest, I would advise showing up at the precise time and place that they are gathering. An "opposing view" would give the news media some balance to their reporting. I can assure you that the sympathetic media will be there.

ICE Raids

Update

IFCO Enters into Record Settlement for Hiring Illegal Aliens

Friday, December 19, 2008, 2:57 PM

ice1219.jpeg

Houston-based IFCO has agreed to pay $20.7 million in civil forfeitures and penalties over the next four years for employing an estimated 6,000 illegal aliens at IFCO plants. IFCO is the largest wooden pallet management services company in the United States.
The government began its investigation of IFCO after Immigration and Customs Enforcement received a tip in February 2005. In April 2006, ICE conducted a work site enforcement action at more than 40 IFCO plants in 26 states, resulting in the apprehension of 1,182 illegal aliens. The United States Attorney's Office prosecuted IFCO managers and employees for the hiring of illegal aliens.
The investigation found that several IFCO managers and employees harbored and transported illegal aliens and encouraged and induced them to remain in the United States as pallet workers. The investigation further found that at 30 of IFCO's plants, back wages were due under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
As part of the agreement, IFCO acknowledged all wrongdoings by management and employees and agreed to a compliance and reporting program. The company will begin using the Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify for all new workers and will verify all current employees through the Social Security Administration.
More on this story can be found at the ICE website.

By alerting millions of Californians to the devastating damage illegal immigration is causing our society -- from the environment to health care to traffic congestion. They have been, and are right now, being run in key parts of California -- and they are making a huge difference in the fight to educate the public and to get more people involved. And your support of CAPS is also a great help in spreading the word about our efforts and applying pressure to the politicians.[/FONT]

Which States' Delegations Were Especially Naughty and Put a Lump of Coal in Their Workers' Christmas Stockings?

By Roy Beck, Updated Wednesday, December 24, 2008, 12:15 AM
picture-21.png
We can track them even though the chambers of Congress are empty on this Christmas Eve. We know which state congressional delegations are the aspiring Scrooges by what they left behind -- a clear trail of votes and co-sponsorships making it easy for us to give out our awards for the Naughtiest Congressional Delegations (and also the NICEST!) when it comes to American workers who are unemployed -- or fear they soon will be. And the winners are . . .
'NAUGHTIEST' DELEGATION OF THE YEAR

The neighboring states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island fought hard to be the best at ruining the holidays for their states' workers.
Both delegations were UNANIMOUS in the Congress just ended in favoring higher importations of foreign workers and in tying up millions of U.S. jobs with illegal foreign workers.
The rest of you may think you have some real stinkers in your state's delegation to Congress, but imagine what it must be like to not have even one Member of Congress standing up for the state's workers against the desires of unscrupulous employers seeking their cheap foreign labor.
Because Rhode Island has only 4 Members in its delegation, I have to give the top Scrooge award to Massachusetts which is able to keep its perfect anti-American-worker record even though it has 12 Members in its delegation to keep in line.
Such discipline! Such a sense of community! Not one elected Member of Congress from Massachusetts dares break with the rest by speaking up for the interests of the rising tide of unemployed Americans.
No, every one of these dozen Bay Staters earns a Grade of D or lower for nearly always favoring foreign workers (and their employers) over American workers. They cheer current policies that bring in 140,000 NEW foreign workers each month, even as a half-million American workers have been losing jobs monthly. In fact, this dozen has constantly worked to bring in MORE than 140,000 a month.
Look at the page with their grades. It is ablaze with the scarlet letters of D and F for their lack of Christmas compassion for the least fortunate among the citizens they were elected to represent.
It will take visits by a lot more than three ghosts to transform these Scrooges -- it is going to take thousands of citizens who every day remind these congressional Members and their staff what they are doing with their immigration actions.
(Those of you in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, be sure you have gone to your Action Buffet and sent proper greetings to your congressional Scrooges.)
HARD-HEARTED DELEGATIONS, BUT NOT QUITE THE TOP SCROOGE

The national unemployment stats are really bad. But in the states where joblessness is much worse, seven have BOTH of their U.S. Senators working diligently to bring in more foreign workers to compete for the dwindling number of jobs.
  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Ohio
  • Rhode Island
  • Washington
Are these Senators the Grinches who stole Christmas, or what!
Mixing Christmas tales, I would note that all the unemployed households going to bed tonight should not expect Scrooge to suddenly appear at their window tomorrow morning with a Christmas goose. The fact is, the Senators have already "cooked the goose" of millions of jobless Americans with their careless immigration policies.
Poor Connecticut. You are suffering from horrible job cuts, yet 6 of the 7 Members you send to Congress are champions for giving more jobs to foreign workers. (And you defeated in November the one Member who voted for reductions in foreign workers!)
And on the other coast, look at California. You have quite a number of U.S. Representatives who have fought to protect American workers (both legal immigrants already here and native-born) from losing jobs and wages to illegal aliens and new imports of foreign workers. But you have 32 Representatives and 2 Senators clamoring for ever-higher immigration!
No wonder Americans continue to flee California. (Reports last week confirmed that once again more Americans left California this last year than moved in. California is a place that attracts masses of immigrants but, on net, repels Americans. And it looks like the state's congressional delegation does its best to insult and drive away American workers through its immigration actions.)
One other state deserves special mention in the Scrooge category: Maryland.
Fortunately, its unemployment rate is currently below the national average. That may not continue if its congressional delegation gets its way. Eight of its 10 Members earn a Grade D or worse in terms of worker protections in immigration actions.
(Don't forget to send your own Scrooges your thoughts about their record. Go to the Action Buffet.)
THE NICE STATE DELEGATIONS

It's enough to engender a little Christmas Eve hope to know that 9 states don't have a single Scrooge in their delegation!
  • Alaska
  • Idaho
  • Kentucky
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • Tennessee
  • Utah
  • Wyoming
Now, I know that several of these are small states. I also know that some of these states have Members who are wishy-washy in their actions protecting their state's workers from foreign labor competition. But none of the Senators and Representatives from these states routinely votes against their state's workers.
Isn't that something!
(If you are from one of those states, look for a fax you can send to your delegation thanking them for making the "Nice" list. You can take a look at these delegations by going to our Report Card map.)
'NICEST' DELEGATION

Well, we have made our lists and checked them twice and haven't hesitated to tell you who was naughty or nice.
But who was the nicest?
Kentucky and Tennessee, with moderate-sized delegations, performed very well.
Even better was Wyoming's 3-member delegation which gets Runner-Up Nicest with their A, A-minus and B+ grades.
But the delegation that gets everything pretty much OK is O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!
Not even a mediocre one in that bunch, standing strong in protecting Oklahoma workers (and all American workers, for that matter).
One earned an A+, one an A, four an A-minus and one a B+.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!

I didn't see Texas mentioned and everyone knows we have a big problem. Good work Oklahoma now how about getting your Reps to talk to ours because I think Oklahoma illegals are just heading for Texas. I have many friends who are American citizens of Hispanic descent and they don't want the illegals here anymore than anyone else. Wake up Texas Reps!! They are hurting all Americans!!

You are so damn right. Just another Massachusetts Miracle. These guys are so good at it. Self righteous, not serving their constiuents seems to be the norm. John Adams would be appalled at what has happened to his beloved birthplace of revolution.

Re: Which States' Delegations Were Especially Naughty and Put a

Just this morning I heard on the news that the "Terminator" wants state workers to take 2 unpaid days off to reduce the state deficit. I have a MUCH BETTER IDEA. SEND THE ILLEGALS BACK HOME AND STOP BRINGING IN MORE! In addition to these people taking jobs (courtesy of American sell out employers) they have GREATLY added to the population of California with their ENORMOUS amount of births each year. Kind of reminds me of the movie "Gremlins". They are great at taking away jobs which should go to LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS, taking state aid, and reproducing! What the idiot employers and politicians don't seem to realize, or should I say, don't care, is that they're costing more than they're saving the state. But, after all, it's the LEGAL US TAXPAYERS who are footing the ILLEGAL'S BILLS!

Re: Which States' Delegations Were Especially Naughty and Put a

I went up to Massachusetts last year and heard nothing but complaints concerning ILLEGAL TRESPASSERS. Are the MA citizens voting??? NY also has many SANCTUARY policies and we have a huge budget deficit, for the two go hand-in-hand. Jobs and services for the CITIZENS are now on the chopping block because so much money is spent on immigrants, or illegals! I VOTE, and I make sure I let my friends and family know who and why I am voting.

Nice to see my instincts confirmed RE Illinois. Are most of the "grinch" states also ones with huge budget deficits? Once "Blago" is out of the way, talk show hosts have speculated that our state income tax will rise to cover the deep hole. I for one will resent paying more if the presence of illegal aliens is one reason for our financial problems. http://www.numbersusa.com/content/n...s-were-especially-naughty-and-put-a-lump-coal

I take it as a pro-American way of life thread. Our way of life is being threatened by the numbers of those immigrating here from wherever.
