Trump wants review of guest-worker visa programs
President Trump signed an executive order this week, making “Buy American, hire American” the signature motto of his administration. The White House announced that the president is keeping his promise to make America first by proclaiming that the policy of the executive branch is to buy American goods and to hire American workers.

I feel SAD, I am ANGRY and I believe we were LIED TO... regarding DACA.
My hope is that Trump immediately reverses his comments and position he made Friday.
Promises were made to immediately rescind DACA and not reward DAPA. But apparently the promises made - were just smoke screens to aid in an election.

Folks, LET ME ASK YOU:
What was our response when Obama created DACA and DAPA?
We said NO - that's amnesty. We said - NO that is selective enforcement and........
We said NO RESCIND DACA!!! No Amnesty?
WHAT's Changed?

Daily Caller is reporting that the President has told DACA's to ......REST EASY and that the Admiistration is not after the Dreamers.
My heart aches for all those 'Families' who stood on stage, with then candidate Trump, believing that their loved ones' death at the hands of illegal aliens including Dreamers (because they are illegal aliens) seems to have taken a back seat to the lawlessness.
My heart aches for all those who have suffered in some capacity due to illegal immigration.
And, my heart aches for all the families that will deal with the future pain becoming the next newly-created-victim or family member of... because our laws are not enforced.
Although The President is doing great things - by allowing this lawlessness - this selective enforcement - the DACA and DAPA games will begin. Illegal aliens subject to removal (Adults) will get passes as well to care for the DACA's, not to mention the fraud, family unification etc. that will take place.
I trusted, I believed and now... quite frankly feel ill.

[h=3]Read. Share. Discuss.[/h]In his oped, "How politics trumps environmentalism in border wall debate," Dave Wilcox covers a lot of ground, including the impact of U.S. population growth...
"We consume one-fifth of the world's oil, but are only 5 percent of its population. It's estimated that when your average immigrant settles here, their carbon footprint jumps by a multiple of four."
...and the efforts to sweep that impact under the rug:
"Now, not only has the issue been completely dropped by all major environmental establishment groups, when activists even attempt to raise the issue for debate, they're shunned, banned, or even accused of 'greenwashing' Nazism."
Join the conversation in the comments.
PS: Regarding today's debate over a border "wall," see Roy's 2009 blog on the environment and border fencing. Excerpt:
"The fence appears to be both saving and threatening various parts of the ecosystems and wildlife in these refuges.

"The answer is not to try to scuttle nearly every effort to stop illegal aliens from crossing the border (which is what some environmentalist leaders tend to do) nor to dismiss environmental concerns about enforcement as frivolous and out of hand (as some border security enthusiasts do)."

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents found 18 people inside a refrigerated tractor trailer at the Falfurrias checkpoint on Wednesday morning, according to a news release.

After a K-9 alerted agents, the refrigerated tractor trailer was referred for secondary inspection, according to the news release.

Agents used bolt cutters to gain access to the tractor trailer, as the driver didn't have a key, according to the news release.
Agents discovered 18 immigrants among the produce inside the vehicle. The temperature inside the tractor trailer was set at 51 degrees.
The immigrants were reportedly from various countries including Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Four immigrants were reportedly from Kosovo, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a Mexican national, was arrested and referred for prosecution, according to the news release.
The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol RGV Sector asks the public to report suspicious activity by calling 800-863-9382.

[h=3]Do we want teenagers to work? Immigration policy says "no."[/h]I recommend "American Teenagers Compete with Immigrants for Jobs" by Margaret Menge who offers up a compilation of studies on the impact immigration policy has on teenage employment.
"In the first quarter of 2017, just 18 percent of 16- and 17-year-old, U.S.-born Americans had jobs - a historic low.

"The problem: One-quarter of American teenage males and almost one-third of American teenage females work in the 20 most popular jobs for immigrants. These include restaurant cooks, restaurant servers, construction, and grocery-store cashier jobs."

Importantly, immigration policy is not the sole factor in low teenage employment rates, and legal immigrants have every right to seek employment in the U.S.:
"More teenagers take summer classes now than 30 years ago. Also, few summer jobs would pay enough for a teenager to be able to save a reasonable amount toward college costs - so some may not see a job as worth their time.

"But immigration, both legal and illegal, still plays a big part."

Employers may prefer government programs that provide foreign alternatives to hiring teenagers, but is that what is best for young Americans seeking their first job experience -- or for the country?

Dear Jim:
Thank you for taking the time to express your views regarding immigration policy.
My first duty as President is to keep the American people safe, and that obligation guides my approach to immigration and border security.
Immigration to the United States is a privilege, not a right, and the Federal Government has the responsibility to enforce all laws passed by Congress, to rigorously vet and screen all foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States, and to keep drugs, criminals, and terrorists from entering our country and threatening our citizens.
Additionally, we must have responsible controls on the future entry of foreign workers to protect jobs and wages for existing United States workers of all backgrounds. I have issued an executive order to help accomplish this goal, as I promised during the campaign.
Further, we have achieved a record reduction in illegal immigration on the southern border, an effort that requires constant vigilance against a wide array of threats and challenges. We are also taking action to confront unlawful sanctuary city jurisdictions that dangerously shield criminal aliens. Crucially, we have also begun planning and preparations for the border wall— which we need to stop the trafficking of drugs, guns, weapons, and people.
If we continue to enforce our laws and protect our communities, families, and struggling workers, we will reduce our deficit, increase incomes, and make our communities safer for each and every American—present and future.
Sincerely,
