"If you can't beat them, shut them up" seems to be the new motto of groups that have been continually losing in their attempts to pass an amnesty for illegal aliens.

(Here is an Associated Press story about this national censorship campaign.)

Led by the National Council of La Raza and the Anti-Defamation League, the open-borders groups have started a concerted campaign to persuade Cable TV executives to either bar me and our Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks from their shows, or to always introduce us as representing an "extremist" organization with ties to hate and racist groups.

Their characterization of NumbersUSA and our members is without any connection to reality, facts or even common decency. But if all of us remain silent in the face of this campaign of character assassination, we might indeed be silenced on TV and beyond.

Please consider sending an email to Cable TV executives urging them to resist the national censorship campaign.

So broad is the attempt at censorship that the open-borders groups suggest that virtually no spokesman or group fighting illegal immigration or asking for less overall immigration should be allowed on TV. And they want Lou Dobbs off CNN, and Pat Buchanan off MSNBC, and Sean Hannity off Fox.

LA RAZA SUGGESTS THAT NO PRO-ENFORCEMENT GROUP
HAS A LEGITIMATE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH

The total censorship advocacy of La Raza and its friends can be seen in the fact that their website lists NumbersUSA as "the most reasoned" of all groups on the restriction side of the immigration issue ... but then it says even NumbersUSA should not be allowed on TV, or quoted by the Washington Post.

In other words, no group that stands for enforcing immigration laws should be allowed on TV, because all of them are less reasonable than NumbersUSA, which La Raza describes as being an "extremist group targeting Latinos."

These comments from La Raza are so desperate and disconnected from reality that when they began last month I dismissed them and chose not to bring them to your attention.

NUMBERSUSA HAS ALWAYS CAUTIONED
AGAINST ANTI-IMMIGRANT EXPRESSIONS

Those of you who have used NumbersUSA's activist tools for our 11 years of existence know that, for instance, we have NEVER talked about the ethnicity or race of immigrants and illegal aliens. We have ALWAYS called for immigration policies that do NOT take race into consideration and that do NOT favor one ethnicity over another.

You also know that beginning with my 1996 video, "Immigration by the Numbers," and with the founding of our website in 1997, we have always admonished Americans to refrain from getting angry at immigrants. We have warned against "immigrant bashing." We have always rallied citizens to express their anger against the public officials who have created the immigration nightmare.

Frankly, the Anti-Defamation League is itself engaging in incredibly reckless defamation of NumbersUSA and many other immigration-reduction groups and leaders.

What we have here is several groups that favor very high immigration -- such as La Raza, ADL and the Southern Poverty Law Center -- who seek to advance their cause by throwing the most incendiary type of labels at their opponents.

And they really believe they can get by with it. They have already begun to achieve meetings with TV executives to make their case for keeping off the air all immigration-restriction groups, and especially the two largest national groups, NumbersUSA and FAIR (the Federation for American Immigration Reform).

'WE CAN STOP THE DEBATE' WEBSITE
LAYS OUT THE CASE FOR CENSORSHIP

I can tell you that the majority of text on the La Raza website about the groups, about NumbersUSA and about me is simply not factual.

The website is called "We Can Stop The Hate dot org." But it might as well be called "We Can Stop The Debate."

According to the ADL's Stacy Burnett on the website, anybody who uses words like conquest, invasion, swarms, hordes, crime and disease in connection with illegal immigration -- or who even suggests that immigration is an economic threat to a community -- is guilty of hate speech.

La Raza says such talk is "used to justify extreme action, sometimes even genocide, since the people using those labels claim that the 'larger public interest' is at risk."

The website also says that more than 40 million Americans are members of hate, racist and extremist groups that apparently are fanning the passions of genocide toward immigrants.

Wow! And I thought we were just trying to reduce the numerical level of immigration and to enforce immigration laws that have been on the books for decades.

Don't you find that 40 million figure a little hard to believe? What groups can they possibly be counting?

This stuff sounds so nuts that you can see why I dismissed it at first, but the website is rallying its own supporters to a relentless campaign to pressure TV executives to erase nearly all opposition to amnesties from TV.

PLEASE CONTACT TV EXECUTIVES AND CALL FOR CONTINUED OPEN IMMIGRATION FORUM -- INCLUDING OUR OPPONENTS

I am asking as many of you as have time to send an email to CNN, Fox and MSNBC executives to urge them to continue to keep their shows open to all sides of the immigration debate.

Unlike the open-borders, pro-amnesty groups, our side of the debate does not want to silence our opponents. We believe in freedom of the press, freedom of speech and in allowing American citizens to hear all points of view. Yes, we find the views of many of the open-borders leaders repugnant, but we would never suggest that they should be excluded from news stories and from talk shows.

Because these TV executives have not shown any sign of giving in to the censorship campaign, I don't want to burn up their fax machines with faxes at this moment.

So, I am asking you to send your own email to the executives, based on what you have read in this alert and what you read on We Can Stop The Hate dot org and on our own NumbersUSA website.

Please remember that these executives are not our enemies. Although we may not always agree with their balance in covering immigration, these three cables have been far more open than broadcast TV and the nation's newspapers to allowing the majority of Americans' concerns about immigration to be expressed.

The La Raza Censorship Campaign is telling these executives that if they allow leaders from FAIR, the Minutemen, ALIPAC, or if they allow Rosemary and me, to continue to express our views on TV, the executives will be inculcating "good people" to hate all immigrants.

The La Raza website says it goes beyond the bounds of free speech to say that our nation's immigration policies threaten our communities and our values.

I say that statement itself threatens the values of our nation.

Let these executives know that you know about the effort at censorship and that you back them 100% in keeping the immigration forum open to all sides -- including the open-borders people who want to censor us.

THANKS,
roysignatural.png

P.S. If anything you read on La Raza's website about me or NumbersUSA causes you concern, don't hesitate to contact us for an explanation. Virtually everything they write about us is fiction.

Also, I think you can regard this outrageous censorship campaign as a sign of great strength and victory for all of you mobilized citizens. The open-borders lobby is extremely frustrated and believes the only way it can compete in the political world is to silence all opponents. This is a great time to help media executives realize just how strong is the citizens movement for Attrition Through Enforcement and to reduce all immigration back to traditional levels.

March 3, 2008 PrintE-mailSize: +/–Georgia Senate OKs immigration legislation A pair of bills that would crack down on illegal immigration in Georgia has reached the halfway point in the statehouse. One bill would toughen penalties for driving without a license in the state while the other would outlaw “sanctuary” cities.

Another bill would allow police to seize vehicles driven by illegal immigrants.

The Senate voted 38-13 to advance a bill to the House that would apply to people driving without a valid driver’s license, or a suspended or revoked license. Driving with an expired license would not apply. People who obtain legal licenses would have their cases dismissed.

Sen. John Wiles, R-Kennesaw, said the change is needed to strengthen rules in the state on unlicensed driving.

“Our current code allows unlicensed drivers a certain amount of leniency,” Wiles said in a written statement. “We need to let those who blatantly ignore the most basic laws of our state know that our laws are serious.”

Driving without a license or driving on a suspended, disqualified or revoked license could result in two days in jail. Second or third offenses within five years would result in at least 10 days in jail and at least $1,000 fines. Subsequent offenses within five years would result in felony charges. Offenders would face one to five years in jail and up to $5,000 fines.

The bill – SB350 – is awaiting consideration in the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.

Another measure would cut state funding to local governments that do not cooperate with federal officials trying to enforce immigration laws. The Senate approved the bill on a 45-8 vote. It now moves to the House.

Sponsored by Sen. Chip Pearson, R-Dawsonville, the bill would prohibit government agencies from enacting policies that give sanctuary to illegal immigrants.

Advocates for the bill point out that law enforcement agencies in some states make it a policy for their officers to not ask suspects about their immigration status. In fact, there are 60 so-called sanctuary cities throughout the nation that are recognized by rule or regulation, The Associated Press reported.

While there aren’t cities in Georgia with a sanctuary policy, Pearson said the rule is needed to address the matter in case that changes in the future.

Pearson’s bill – SB340 – is awaiting consideration in the House Judiciary Committee.

A House bill would let police seize vehicles, including large trucks, from illegal immigrants. Sponsored by Rep. James Mills, R-Gainesville, the measure would allow law enforcement to take vehicles registered in the state that are involved in traffic violations or wrecks if they are driven by illegal immigrants.

Rented and leased vehicles would be included if it is determined owners should have known the driver was an illegal immigrant.

Supporters say the bill would help improve safety on roads. Opponents say it would create an atmosphere of racial profiling for traffic stops. Others say the measure doesn’t provide due process for taking vehicles.

The bill – HB978 – is in the House Rules Committee. The panel will decide whether to advance the effort to the House floor for a vote.

The open-borders Members of Congress are not giving up on their plan to reward illegal aliens with a 5-year amnesty to flood the country with more foreign workers during our current economic downturn.

The latest attempt is coming from Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), who is floating a bill (it has not been introduced yet and there is no bill number) around Congress that would accomplish the same amnesty/foreign worker increases that we have been fighting for the past few weeks.

The open-borders Members of Congress are desperate to vote on an amnesty bill before our side can force a vote on the enforcement-only SAVE Act (H.R. 4088), which would increase border security and take jobs away from illegal workers.

Please send this fax to your U.S. Representative and warn them not to support Rep. Stupak's amnesty bill. Encourage them to pass the SAVE Act instead.

I get off my couch enough to see first hand the destruction that illegal immigration is causing America. I work with the public, every day at work I see the problems every day. I have seen and lived with the downside of illegal immigration in my nieghborhood and the vast majority of the problems have been created in the last 20 years. This flood of illegal immigrants was caused by the 1986 Amnesty these people came here looking for a second amnesty and when there was talk of a second, there was a tremendous surge in border crossings this was documented.
America can not afford to absorb the worlds poor and uneducated and this is the vast majority of illegal immigrants, the economic, legal, and cultural problems arising from this tide of humanity have increased the taxpayer burden of working Americans displaced them in both the workforce and the welfare roles, how many Americans are you willing to drive into poverty to accommodate the rest of the world ? how many languages must we learn when the illegal immigrants will not learn ours ? how many laws should we overlook that are broken everyday by illegals ? how many cultural norms must we be willing to accept instead of the ones we took four hundred years to create ?

This is not about racism or hate it is about rule of law , economics , language and culture .
Open your eyes Mz Sonia stop looking through hate colored glasses at every dissenter or better yet every American that is against illegal immigration. We come in every color, race and creed this issue is about preserving what made America the preffered destination of all these illegals, and we are losing that due to the people that want to turn this country into a multicultural society not "one people" with a common culture and language from many different backgrounds, but "many different people" each with their own language ,their own laws and their own cultures separate from each other This is what is fragmenting America not "hate" Join: http://numbersusa.com/video</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR><TR><TD class=row1 vAlign=center align=left width=150></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

According to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement news release, four tractor-trailers were stopped in a five-hour span as they prepared to enter the U.S. from Mexico at Laredo, TX, on Feb. 15.
During routine Customs and Border Patrol inspection, agents noticed suspicious activity from inside the trailers and were alerted by on-site canines. That prompted the agents to send drivers for secondary inspections.
Fifteen Mexicans were found hiding inside the first truck’s sleeper berth at 7 p.m., followed by 12 Mexicans and three Guatemalans found in the second truck’s sleeper. Before 11 p.m. agents found 32 illegal aliens locked in a truck’s trailer “with no means of escape,” the release stated.
Only a few minutes later, agents discovered 20 Mexicans, two Hondurans and a Salvadoran locked in a different trailer.
“All those discovered inside the trailers appeared to be in good health; they declined medical attention,” ICE officials reported.
“This criminal activity clearly re-emphasizes the fact that human smugglers have no regard for human life,” said Jerry Robinette, special agent-in-charge for the ICE Office of Investigations in San Antonio. “ICE will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to bring to justice those who blatantly disregard the laws of this nation.”
The news release didn’t indicate whether the trucks were domiciled in Mexico or the United States. http://landlinemag.com Join http://numbersusa.com

March 12, 2008 New cross-border participant’s safety stats lackluster Despite assurances by Department of Transportation officials that Mexican companies in the cross-border program are squeaky clean, one of the newest participant’s safety records tells a different tale.

Avomex International received its authority to operate beyond the border zone Feb. 29. That is in spite of a past riddled with safety violations.

The motor carrier’s safety records were highlighted by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association in the Association’s lawsuit seeking to stop the cross-border program.

In one of the court filings, OOIDA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs Rick Craig pointed out that in the 12-month period ending Sept. 21, 2007, Avomex’s five trucks at that time had amassed 206 total violations in 172 inspections. That averages out to just slightly more than 41 violations per truck.

That research was completed after Avomex was announced as having passed the Pre-Authorization Safety Audit.

However in the four months following Sept. 21, 2007, Avomex’s safety record hasn’t improved, yet the company was still granted authority to operate beyond the border zone in the U.S.

From Sept. 22, 2007 through Jan. 22, 2008, Avomex received 71 more violations in 41 inspections – well on pace to top the 206 violations in the preceding 12-month period.

In both the testimony submitted to the court and in the subsequent research, Avomex was put out of service only a limited number of times – despite violations that clearly should have resulted in out-of-service orders, according to Craig.

In the 16-month period, the company’s trucks have been put out of service a total of only 21 times. Yet numerous additional violations of regs regarding things such as “non-English speaking driver,” cargo securement and suspension should have resulted in out-of-service orders.

For example, in the four months since the end of September 2007, Avomex was cited five times for having non-English speaking drivers, yet the drivers were never put out-of-service.

“It seems clear that a common scenario in the border zone is for drivers, trucks and trailers to be let go instead of being placed out-of-service because they are so close to the warehouse or are heading back into Mexico,” Craig said.

“That still doesn’t excuse the fact that if the equipment or the driver are in violation and should be out-of-service, they have no business on the road. They are an imminent safety hazard. That’s the way it is for U.S. drivers, and it’s supposed to be that way for Mexican motor carriers.”

Avomex isn’t the first company to have its safety record called into question by OOIDA. Trinity Industries was also held up as an example of a poor safety record in the Association’s court filings.

Trinity had racked up 1,123 violations in 604 inspections in the 12-month period leading up to Sept. 21, 2007. That averaged out to112.3 violations per truck.

Trinity was granted authority to operate beyond the border zone by the Department of Transportation. However, the company left the program Feb. 1 and returned to operating only in the border zone.

In a hearing of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on the cross-border program, Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-ND, took exception to Trinity’s involvement in the cross-border program and wasn’t much happier that the company is still operating on U.S. soil at all.

Transportation Secretary Mary Peters testified that Trinity’s safety record was an “anomaly” in the cross-border program.

“The fact that Avomex has somehow managed to get authority to operate beyond the border zone proves Trinity was not a fluke,” Craig said.

In the hearing, Peters also said that a number of Trinity’s violations were because drivers were pulling trailers new to them.

“That’s no excuse. The regulations clearly state that it’s the carrier’s and truck driver’s responsibility to make sure the equipment they are operating is in compliance,” Craig said. “If it’s not, they are just gambling on whether they will be put out-of-service.

Instead of the American People!
Call Your Representatives Now!

Not one week after Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates testified in Congress, various sources are reporting that House leaders intend to bring up legislation that would increase high-skilled foreign worker visas. H.R. 5630, sponsored by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), would increase the annual cap for high-tech H-1B visas from 65,000 to 130,000 starting this year, and up to 180,000 by the year 2010. This legislation also makes it easier for foreign students who are graduates in high-tech fields to enter or stay in the U.S. and compete with U.S. graduates.(Congress Now, March 18, 2008)
This latest move only further illustrates how Congress is willing to bend over backwards to oblige special interests—interests determined to ensure that any enforcement legislation, such as the SAVE Act (H.R.4088), does not pass Congress unless it has goodies for them. While the influence these special interests has over Congress is appalling, the move to increase the number of foreign guest workers is particularly disturbing given the fact the Labor Department announced not one week ago that the U.S. economy had lost 63,000 jobs and yesterday the Federal Reserve cut interest rates in an effort to stabilize the economy.
But the push to import more high-tech foreign workers isn't the only scheme politicians are devising behind closed doors. Just three weeks ago, House Leadership began negotiating legislation promoted by Congressman Joe Baca (D-CA), Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, that would grant 5-year amnesty visas to the 12-20 million illegal aliens currently in the country. And not two weeks ago, Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) began efforts to bring legislation to the House floor that would allow employers to import more unskilled H-2B guest workers. Now, Capitol Hill newspapers are reporting that House Leadership—eager to address immigration in a "comprehensive" manner—is considering a package that would contain all of these elements.
FAIR is urging all members, activists, and friends to call their Representatives and tell them they are sent to Washington to represent YOU, not special interests. Tell them you demand enforcement-only immigration legislation such as the SAVE Act (H.R.4088), and will not tolerate attempts to add on legislation that will allow self-serving, greedy corporations to import more guest workers who compete with U.S. workers and drive down wages!!!!
Congress is in recess for two weeks and many members are in their home districts. Now is the time to call and fight the efforts of special interests to hijack true immigration reform legislation!!!

Ruling: "Speak English" sign at cheesesteak shop not discriminatory

A city agency yesterday dismissed a discrimination complaint against Geno's Steaks for its speak-English sign, halting a case that thrust shop owner Joey Vento into the national spotlight of the contentious immigration debate.
A split three-member panel of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations ruled that a sign in the South Philadelphia cheesesteak shop did not convey a message that service would be refused to non-English speakers.

"The bottom line is that I didn't do anything wrong," said Vento, 68, who maintained that the sign was a political statement and that no customers were ever turned away. "It's a good victory."

Had the commission ruled against Geno's, it could have imposed fines and have moved to revoke Vento's business license.

The case, filed 21 months ago, consumed hundreds of hours of legal time and was the subject of a seven-hour hearing in December. It attracted national attention to Vento and his sign: "This is America. When ordering, please speak English."

The millionaire businessman said the commission's action was an attempt to infringe on his freedom of speech - he refused to remove the sign, and put a second one on the bumper of his orange Hummer. Some commentators and Web sites portrayed Vento as the heroic victim of an overreaching government's attempt to impose political correctness.

Indeed, while branding the commission's action "ridiculous," Vento said he was grateful for the publicity.

"They made me famous throughout the world," Vento said in an interview from his home in New Jersey. "I'm way ahead of the game. I became a hero. I've got to thank them for that."

Shannon L. Goessling, executive director of the Southeastern Legal Foundation, a public-interest law firm in Atlanta that championed Vento's case, complained that the government spent a "tremendous amount of energy" to "silence" Vento and said that he would consider filing suit to recover the cost of his defense.

"If that's what it takes to send a message to government, then that's what it takes," she said.

The Rev. James S. Allen Sr., the commission chairman who filed the original complaint in June 2006, said he still contends that the sign was discriminatory, "but I accept the opinion of the panel." He said the full commission was unlikely to appeal the three-member panel's decision.

Allen said the panel's ruling "is an example of the fairness of the Commission on Human Relations. . . . Just because we bring a case, it does not necessarily mean it will come out in our favor."

The commission's ruling surprised Vento's attorneys, who had complained that the commission, in judging a case brought by its own chairman, was effectively acting as prosecutor, judge and jury.

"I'm kind of impressed with the decision to buck the trend," said Albert G. Weiss, Vento's lawyer in Philadelphia. "It restores my confidence in them a little bit."

Commissioners Roxanne E. Covington and Burt Siegel wrote the majority opinion.

Joseph J. Centeno, a lawyer who chaired the panel, dissented and said the commission had met its burden to prove discrimination, citing testimony from several witnesses at the December hearing that they felt intimidated and unwelcomed by the sign's message.

One witness, University of Pennsylvania sociology professor Camille Z. Charles, likened the "speak English" signs to "whites only" signs from the Jim Crow era.

But Vento's sign also struck a chord among Americans apprehensive over the influx of immigrants, and he was flooded with supportive messages from across the country. "Right now, outside of the war, this is a very hot topic," he said.

Yesterday, Vento took phone calls from like-minded talk-show radio hosts who wanted him to make appearances, and from Lou Barletta, the Hazleton, Pa., mayor who wants to crack down on illegal immigration and is running for Congress.

"I woke up America, so to speak," said Vento

Drinking with a Redneck Girl
A Mexican, an Arab, and a redneck girl are in the same bar.

When the Mexican finishes his beer, he throws his glass in the air, pulls out his pistol, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In Mexico, o ur glasses are so cheap we don't need to drink with the same one twice.'

The Arab, obviously impressed by this, drinks his beer, throws it into the air, pulls out his AK-47, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In the Arab World, we have so much sand to make glasses that we don't need to drink with the same one twice either.'

The redneck girl, cool as a cucumber, picks up her beer, downs it in one gulp, throws the glass into the air, whips out her 45, and shoots the Mexican and the Arab. Catching her glass, setting it on the bar, and calling for a refill, she says,

'In America we have so many illegal Mexicans and Arabs that we don't have to drink with the same ones twice.'
