This is comical. None of the spazzes have touched on the substance of this article. I doubt most of you have even bothered to read it -- because those who have, admitted Ann is right -- yet, again. (What else is new!)
Amid the temper tantrums, and in case you've been living under a rock over the last few decades, I'll get straight to Ann's point:
The Democrat Party has opposed oil extraction from Alaska.
The Democrat Party has supported raising gasoline taxes.
The Democrat Party has opposed construction of new refineries.
The Democrat Party has supported forcing refineries to make special blends.
The Democrat Party has opposed construction of new nuclear power plants, thereby driving up the burning of precious oil for electricity.
The Democrat Party has opposed construction of new coal-fired power plants, thereby driving up the burning of precious oil for electricity.
Conclusion: The Democrat Party, not the oil companies, not the GOP, has created the mess we now find ourselves in. That's right, friends, over 40 years of stated Democrat Party policy for non-existent touchy-feely socialst causes, and this is where we find ourselves today. Remember - the Democrat Party ruled Congress for almost all of that time.
Frankly, for Democrats to blame Republicans, or oil companies, for these high gas prices, as they are doing, is like blaming Bush for 9/11, rather than Bill "if-we-can-kill'em-tomorrow-we-might-find-a-better-way" Clinton.
Ann is 100% right. These. "Do as I say (not as I do)" liberals, couldn't care less about you: the working class. Just as they are willing to sell the country out on illegal aliens; just as they are willing to play politics with national security, wasting everyone's time waving around three-year-old Abu Ghraib pictures and chanting "exit strategy" every ten minutes; Democrats are doing the same thing with energy: playing pure politics hoping enough idiots don't bother researching the facts.
Exxon just announced their 1st Quarter earnings: Revenue: $88.98 Billion; Net Income: $8.4 Billion; Profit Margin: 9.4%. Nothing obscene there. That's about the average profit margin for a successful American corporation.
Compare that with McDonald's profit margin of 11.6%. (I want a full investigation against Ronald for price-gouging!) What about Disney? Its profit margin is 15%. (Mickey, never had it so good!) And let's not even think about the profit margin on some of the hit films that Hollywood cranks out! Some of those profit margins are, literally, in the hundreds of percent! Ditto for bottled water!
Hmmm...you think all this prosperity has anything to do with Bush's economic policies?
Hey Chucky! Let's waste more tax dollars investigating the oil companies for price gouging -- even though they've been cleared of all wrongdoing, the previous 32 times. After all, the only thing that matters is grandstanding gobbling up more votes, right?
As we have come to expect from the party of Kerry, Pelosi, Kennedy, Dean, and Chucky, the only thing these guys know how to do, is play politics and obsruct -- on everything!
You want lower gas prices? Drill in Alaska and the Gulf, until the Caribou and dolphins come marching on Capitol Hill; lower the friggin taxes; build more refineries, more nuclear plants -- all "anti-environment" policies -- and for crying out loud, stop blaming the oil companies for making a profit! Where were all the bleeding hearts when oil was $15 a barrell while oil companies were taking it in the ass?
Ann is right, yet again:
When the free market does the exact thing liberals have been itching to do through taxation, they pretend to be appalled by high gas prices, hoping the public will forget that high gas prices are part of their agenda.
