The US,culture works for Americans as other cultures works for other people.One culture on this earth is no better or worse than another culture,only different.Some of the simplest cultures{and poorest}seem to have the happiest people.BTW,we still have a shitload of poverty in the US.I just can't put a value on a culture because of a country's resources.

Look, let's cut the BS, the poverty in the US is nothing compared to mexico and the philippines. The poor in the US can get on welfare and live decent. The poor in the US can get free housing, medical care and food. I've never seen the poor in the US lining up to get their rice and bean rations. They get aid from the government and shop at the same store I do. I rented a house the other day and the government is picking up the bill of 1200.00 a month for a poor family that doesn't happen in Africa, mexico or china.

I ll have to fully agree here, on the first as well as on the second point. As much as i like to take a well meant piss out of americans for their cuisine say, i cant ignore the many merits of their culture. Also, technological and material progress and prosperity is by no means a datum for general well being of the people.

for your information, AGAIN, the reason why the phillippines is poorer than the u.s. is because the u.s. war machine has repeatedly backed dictators in phillipines such as the butcher batista, to enslave local peoples and hand over natural resources to u.s. corporations. That has benefited neither the u.s. poor, and obviously not the phillipinos.
