Actually,
ID the comparison is because that is what is being used to determine a winner in this competition. This is not a sociological debate and I do not disagree that if the two swtiched places perhaps Jasmine might be the one in the mother's shoes. But that is a completely different argument, nature vs. nurture.
If you are going to argue about the differences in age, I must say at 17 I was pretty damn stupid, and at 19, well, I was pretty damn stupid, maybe even dumber than when I was 17. The difference in that age is not as great as it is with a LaToya who was 25, established and responsible. It's not like Fantasia is out on her own providing for her child, she is living at home much like the others.

And as for who has a lucrative career, who really cares? I am mainly interested in this from a handicapping and competitive standpoint. I have zero ties to any of the contestants, except for one kid who was in the top 32 who's father works at the same place I do. Why would you care if she has a lucrative career. Outside of winning a bet (which I hope to cash as well), it makes no difference to me.

Id, enjoy the debate on this even if we don't agree, we can agree to disagree.
I went back and read some of your earlier posts and you were dead-on all along. Kudos to you.

Fantasia just annoys the you know what out of me, not to mention her head has already swollen larger than a freakin basketball. I called Diana DeGarmo Wayyyyyyyyy back in this thread, and I hope she pulls off. And yes, I agree with Lander above.......Randy is racist as he only praises specific singers and always criticizes other certain singers, and Paula seems to do the exact same thing when Randy does. Fox already gave the title to Ruben last year for "certain" reasons, cause there's no way in this world he received more votes than Clay.Just a few weeks after the show Clays Single was blowing Ruben's out of the water in sales, so try to explain how in the world Ruben had more votes. The show is fixed and there's no question about it. If it wasn't, Fox would allow an independent company to oversee with them the votes to verify they are legit. Also, next year they should just have and "All Star Idol" with all of the former top contestants coming back for fans to vote for a million dollars to the winner or something. Kelly Clarkson,Justin Guarini, Ruben, Clay, Josh Gracin, Fantasia, etc...... My money would be on Kelly.......

cmon hacheman...if it was fixed, all of the best performers would remain in the competition. for instance, jen-hud would have remained in it over john peters or john stevens. latoya would NOT have been booted if it were fixed.

the show is flawed because some idiots vote hundreds of times on their desired performer, and those people move along. it is definitely not fixed. i guess fox wanted tamyra gray off the show in the first season before nikki mckibbon, eh?

Well my call on Jasmine lost, but it did come close....3rd is not bad, but as for her not having a lucrative career....She will, she will probably past fantasia in the popularity and records sold part...Why?....and I dont want to get into an arguement with anyone, but she will hit a bigger demographic not only here in the US but internationally.....

I see her also reaching success in the US because as one expert stated, their is no one else like her, in looks and such out their right now....Fantasia and Diana are the main stream, whereas Jasmine is not....and that might just be her niche in this industry.....I mean, look at that Australian guy, Reuben, Clay....they all have an unusual look to them, but they still are making it big...

Jasmine will make it, because she has always performed and this is what she has prepared herself to do....She just needs to age a bit and when this happens, she I feel will reach a higher level...She is not their yet, but in time she will be....I feel Diana and Fantasia should do good as well, but for Fantasia, it might be hard for her as the demands of being a mother, American Idol, and such surely will come into conflicts.....and of course there is the BF...now I wonder if he will be able to play a new role....that on being of 2nd to her child and then 3rd to her career....That guy better get ready to adjust, and he better have been good to her, or he will be kicked to the curb....Fame, opens so much doors and introduces you to so many more people....He may be another statistic left by the way side...Dam I can see it already...Sad thing is I feel for him....

CO-CAPT - obviously you do not know much about the music business. you either have to be a good singer, or you must be able to perform well. jasmine can do neither. she has no style, no dancing ability, and a bad voice. unfortunately, that combination of things will leave her looking for work as a waitress. her asian heritage will not carry her to stardom. you think she's the first asian woman to attempt stardom in the music business??? come on...

I beg to differ...But, I do think that she will get better as she gets a little older....She been getting groomed by a staff of professionals, and that is why I stated that she has been preparing herself for this role....Just like the other mixed asian girls who came out Hawaii, who had prepared themselves for fame in the bright lights....As they got older, they got better and more successful...For ex, Miss Teen Usa Kelly Hu....Miss America Angela Baraquio....Tia Carerra.....These girls all from Hawaii and on the same island as me and all of mixed Asian blood like Jasmine has all prepared themselves for fame....

And no I dont think she is the first asian women to attempt stardom in the music business, but I cant remember the last either....especially in the USA.....Now internationally that business is just as big if not bigger than the US.....Just look at David Haselhoff and how he made it to international stardom as a singer....I am just saying dont write her off before she starts....

BTW, dont forget that Jas made it to the Top 3 in the contest....Whether you or I think she deserved it or not, her just being there is just an indication that there is a market for her and that people want to see more of her....This kind of open voting system, is smart because the feedback from the people can give you a good indication of what and who the people like....I feel that Jasmines getting there is because the people want to see someone different then the norm....Now with her gone, the contest is left to determine the best singer, which seems not to really be an indication of who may be more popular later, but just who is the better singer now.

Nice going ID. Jazmine had the voice, I was just getting tired of her songs about men. She wants a man bad. Must have some built up insecurities about man since I'm sure her baby's dady isn't around. She must of got pregnant at 16 or 17, and that isn't no American Idol imo.
The best looking in the contest was Camille. She will be the one that goes the furthest based on looks. She is a real hottie.

Diana Digarmo will win the peoples choice, but judges will favor Fantasia.
