I found this 1987 version, there are several versions of this on YouTube. ..there's also a 1981 version, pretty wild seeing the progression.

really shows how polished they are now live... that was a pretty weak version compared to slane castle .

bono has to look back at that stuff and laugh at himself.

Slane Castle version really is the most polished, funny though you can't say U2 wasn't polished in 1987 but no doubt the later version is best ...they really are incredible all these years later, I wonder if anything new is coming?

larry mullen jr. is my idol .. not cause i wanted to play the drums , but because he sits back all nice and quiet and rakes it in .

probably made over 100 million in his life and is the most unassuming rock star in history.

3 letters.....B-A-D

One amazing thing about that song is the music is essentially the same throughout the entire song. Bono creates all the dynamics with his vocal. Youtube has versions of the song spanning 20 years...

Also, check out a song by Filter called "Take a picture"....subtle rip off but the music is "bad" none the less

A day in the life of The Edge

I came across 3 video shorts about 'A day in the life of The Edge', filmed by Bono, on the beach in Miami, during their last US tour.

To check it out go to http://9.yahoo.com/ & search for 'A day in the life of the Edge'. Great imprompto videos of Bono & The Edge, funny, witty & real.

As for favourite song(s) there are too many to choose from, saying that, I'll choose these 3 songs, 'Bad' U2's anthem song about drugs, 'Where The Streets Have No Name' U2's anthem song for Africa, & last but not least 'One' the bands anthem song, which Bono wrote as a love ode to the other members of the band, & which kept them from breaking up...

As some know GoGo is a U2 freak. Been to many concerts over the years and traveled a few times to see them. Achtung Baby ranks slightly higher than Joshua Treee for GoGo. BTW the boys just got back in the studio recently to begin work on their new album with Rick Rubin currently producing.

Here are 4 links to GoGo's favorite live songs. These are 4 really great performances:

All things U2, awesome band favourite songs, Unforgettable fire, Bad, Sunday bloody Sunday. Big fuvkin' hypocrites. A band who's never paid taxes, telling governments around the world how to spend their tax based money! Now that Ireland has waived it's tax exempt laws for artists, they all moved their finances to Holland. HYPOCRITE! Spend some cash Bono, and get your ugly mug out of the media, if you want to solve the world's problems. All the world's problems=have verses have nots!! When was the last time they donated any cash, live aid, or course why not, they just paid for all the publicity they received, basically paying two million dollars for a commercial to promote themselves. Plus most bands that performed in live aid had their record sales increase by over 1000%, so basically they benefited from the concert and gave a nice "tip" Now there's no excuses!!! First everyone would say it's not their fault their Irish, but to pull all your finances out of Ireland, that was basically a tax haven for over 25 years, to set up shop in a foreign country to save a few bucks (cause they need it) and then to go around telling governments how to spend their tax money!?!? To sum up U2 in one word HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phd, First the entire net worth of the 4 band members could not even come close to making the impact that some of the governments can make. Secondly, the band has donated money and other things over the course of 20 years but has chosen not to publicize those donations like some. Third, to criticize a man who has spent more of his personal time(including while on tour) trying to raise awareness and meet with governments to make a difference is ludicrous. Spending ones time influencing those with deep pockets will have a far greater impact than personal donations. Not even sure Bono sleeps with as much traveling as he has done for his causes. Are they saints...no, do they make mistakes and talk out of both sides of their mouths..yes just like most people and politicians.

If you want to bitch about money spent and being wasted please direct your anger at George W.

U2 = Alarm rip-off that got more famous.

Agree with WC about the live versions of Bad and SoHC on Wide Awake.. My all time fav songs/versions. Boy is hands down their best album.

Such a great band up until Unforgettable Fire......They've put out a handful of tunes I can tolerate since then, but overall they jumped the shark 15 years ago. Props to them for their longevity but they're no better or worse than similar bands of the day....Big Country, The Alarm, Midnight Oil, etc.

And that's coming from a guy who practically worshipped them in the 80's. I've probably got over 50 vintage posters that I need to get on ebay one of these days.

'Boy', along with 'Declaration' by The Alarm....shaped my entire vision of what music should be when I was a kid.

The alarm weren't even a band when U2 put out their first album. In fact, I think U2 had three albums out before the Alarm even released their first EP. I was a big Alarm fan too, they were a great band. In fact, in the 80's I liked the Alarm more than U2

I'd love to see your old posters, let me know when you put them on Ebay

Not a U2 fan, but I'll go way back for I Will Follow. Bullet the Blue Sky is great too.

Check out just part of U2's post 911 superbowl halftime show.

I know there are some who thought Prince whacking off his guitar was something to see - but NOTHING can top this.
