"I'm taking my talents to Souf Beach"

havent read every post in this thread since it was merged but couple things. I am still shocked at his decision and its still hard to picture him in a Heat jersey along side Wade n Bosh. Personally I think its going to ruin the NBA. Since this kid was 17 he was dubbed as the next MJ (few have but none have EVER lived up to and exceeded the hype like Lebron) now the guy is going to a city where he is not even going to be the #1 guy. It just doesnt make any sense....I understand he is doing it for the "titles" but when your Lebron your supposed to build your OWN legacy on your OWN team. He completely ruined any chance of him being in the category of MJ and Kobe. no doubt he will go down as a top 5 player in NBA history hell maybe even top 2 but top 2 players in NBA history dont play the role of Robin and take the easy way out to default into trying to win multiple titles. I dont care if they win 5 titles in 7 years, he will never be thought of how he was supposed to be thought of. the greatest ever.

ESPN approached him about doing the 1 hour special and all the money was donated to charity.

Actually his camp approached ESPN. Some of the ESPN heads were not thrilled about it & rightfully so. Donating the money to charity was just a PR move to cover the fact that this was all about ego. He is no bigger than any other athlete in any sport but the coverage would have you believe otherwise. If it is fair for him to do this, why not a famous baseball player, or football player? Hell even A-Rod who I am a fan of but admit does some bonehead PR moves wouldn't have done a 1 hour special.

Truth be told, fans have a right to hate him. He talked about growing into a man? The choices made by him & his "team" over the last few days shows he still is truly a boy. A real man does not need to hide behind a team to make a decision. You could look in his eyes & tell that Miami was the easy way out & he did not feel comfortable doing it. However he has not had it hard for years now & he took the little boy route to a possible title.

As far as being happy if he came to my team, not at all. I don't care for the NBA much anymore although I love how the Suns & Warriors play the game. I don't like people who get treated as if they are above the sport. The next time someone calls a player like Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, or even Kobe Bryant a prima donna, remember that Lebron has beyond surpassed that title with his actions.

Give me a break, a 25 year old who can not even speak proper English should not be saluted for being polished in anyway.

I personally missed the press conference and I am glad I did.

Wow.

I just want to say that this Miami press conference is disgusting. MSG would never do this. Calling them the Three Kings? Screaming “Visitors Beware!”? Wade claiming, “I feel bad for who has to guard the two of us?” Bosh slipping up and admitting this has been planned for months? Lebron boasting that Pat Riley could come back and play and they would still win? Fans chanting “Beat LA?” How about you beat Atlanta first.
Oh, man, I really hope every playoff team taped this and is ready to beat these guys. It doesn’t feel right. It feels forced, manufactured, fake. I wasn’t too angry at Lebron’s decision, more so the way he’s handled it. But this press conference to me is disgraceful. I wonder what Adrian Wojnarowski thinks about this.
Lebron claims the Heat aren’t trying to win 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7 championships. Premature, much? There’s one ring amongst “The Three Kings” currently, and hopefully there won’t be any more any time soon.
I hope Kobe’s watching this….

Obviously you didn't read what I wrote. I said his grammar is and has always been poor but the other things I mentioned are right on par. How he did this though leaves many questions.

Dan Le Batard and Bill Simmons talk on a podcast and really do rip Lebron. Keep in Le Batard is a writer from Miami. Really interesting highlight from this podcast is Le Batard asking "Do you think if Lebron knew he'd go from loved to hated over night do you think he would announce his decision in this format all over?" That's a very good question. He did go from loved....as in building a great legacy over his first 7 years to almost hated in every city across America for doing this in this manner.

Simmons and Le Batard come to the consensus that he really had no idea this would go that bad and people would be this angry. I mean he actually seemed like he thought there'd be no anger in Cleveland over how he did this. Almost like announcing he was giving money to the Boys and Girls club would make it all better.

You are comparing Lebron signing with another team to Tigers affair. Now, if they would of asked Lebron about his mother and Delonte West, then we might have had a different interview. He should of been asked if Delonte was a reason he left.

I don't think anyone is blaming him for making this decision at all. They're all just very agitated and angry with how this entire scenario played out. Basketball fan or not, people can see they hatched this plan and then dragged these teams along and knowing full well they were doing this and still left all these fans in the dark giving them hope they still had a chance.

Cavs trying to text and phone Lebron and he doesn't answer all the while staging this entire farce that culminated in some grand theater presentation. It was distasteful, unprofessional and his entire entourage had no awareness whatsoever that this was going to go as bad as it did.....simply no clue.

Tiger's affair and this "decision" were both giant PR events. Those two events are what I'm comparing. One handled the giant PR event well (in his delivery of message) and one did not (really screwed up his message delivery).

Been in the field for a long time and been around a lot of talented professionals and some true idiots.

Although I feel the entire campaign was ridiculous including his "decision" and his charade to pretend like this scheme wasn't hatched two years ago was disgusting Lebron handled himself very well on camera and in delivering his messages.

From a public relations standpoint, his messages were very polished and he knew exactly what to say and more importantly, what not to say. Even when ESPN tried to derail him with pictures of this jersey being burned (could've been in the ESPN studio for all we know) he remained focused and stayed calm and cool. Even when his former owner ripped him like no other, he didn't respond. He stayed on track and focused.

That said, Lebron is not the most polished speaker and has his challenges with his grammar but all in all he did great. He is being coached well on his body language, presentation and message delivery.

Contrast this with the Tiger Woods situation and we'll all agree that Lebron is heads and tails above Tiger. You can tell Tiger does not take instruction well and Lebron understands there are people smarter than him helping him along the way during the process. Tiger avoids questions and then answers with about 4 words where as Lebron answers the question and delivers a key message about his situation. He seems to be a savy young man.

I think he'd be a dream client but I don't know for sure.

The whole thing was a PR disaster. Not sure what you're talking about. Why, because he didn't lose his cool and was rehearsed? He sounded like an arrogant prick to me. There were ways he could have left with positive PR. That was not the route he took.

The King has been de-crowned, f*cking chump. What will he new nickname be? Anyone got any good ideas?

I was thinking either Queen James, since he's #2 to Wade....
Or Prince James, Seeing how it's Wades team, and Lebron got on Bosh's dick and followed him to Miami. I just really hope we see some King Wade t-shirts out there soon.

I like the Miami Heat because I think that Dwayne Wade and Pat Riley are both very respectable, class acts. I'm a Sixers fan, but like I said I respect the Miami Heat. They went out and acquired Bosh, another guy I think is a class act both on and off the court which was a big plus. But now they sign Lebron James. A person I think alot of people lost respect for, a person who's an arrogant, cocky piece of shit. I can't help to feel like i've lost an amount of respect for the Miami Heat. I'm just wondering how actual Miami Heat fans feel now that Lebron James true colors have been exposed??? Good luck on winning a championship, I just don't see it working with all 3 on the team. If you had just stuck with Wade, and Bosh a title would have been within sight. I can't wait to read some of the articles in the Miami Herald about trouble caused by Lebron James posse (goon squad).

The Heat haters come out of the woodwork. Sweet! As DWade said during the press conference...BRING IT ON!

Don't hate the players, hate the game!
