and if 'Bama goes through their schedule they should be #1, or #2...they should be in the BCS title game.
Texas coach Mack Brown said today on the Big 12 coaches teleconference that he did not believe the Longhorns deserve to be ranked No. 1 in the polls.
"I don't like the way we're doing No. 1 right now; I think Alabama should (be) No. 1," Brown said, referring to the Crimson Tide, who remained No. 2 in the Associated Press media poll and were leapfrogged this week by Texas.
"(Alabama) didn't play (last weekend), and, to me, they didn't do anything to lose it," Brown added. "Alabama didn't do anything to lose it. We should not have jumped from 5 to 1."
Texas is ranked No. 1 for the first time under Mack Brown (the 2005 national championship was ranked No. 2 before beating Southern Cal). The Longhorns are the fourth team to hold down the top spot in the AP poll, following Georgia, Southern Cal and Oklahoma.
"I think there is pressure at the end of the year; I don't think there is any right now," Brown said. "We have a long way to prove that we're any good." down the top spot in the AP poll, following Georgia, Southern Cal and Oklahoma.
