The President never called the virus a hoax. He called the Democratic response to the virus a hoax. We've been over this already.

"We have it totally under control, it's only 1 person coming in from China" "We only have 15 infected, it'll be 0 soon" "One day it's a miracle, it was disappear like magic" "Miraculously it'll disappear by April"

Had Obama said these things, would you believe he was serious about it being a Pandemic or believed it a Hoax?

COVID-19 is relatively unknown, so no vaccines exist and has a far higher mortality rate of 3.4%.

When Trump made all of those comments, I believe he was trying to minimize Corona while also trying to minimize panic in the American people. I would've said something different but this is him.

Excellent informative post. You rarely see that on this forum.

I've also noticed that the South Korean President hasn't called it the "Chinese Flu" (even though they have the right to be angry due to their close proximity to China) and has even helped the Chinese by sending them masks and medical equipment. So instead of finger-pointing, they put their heads down and got to work stopping the transmissions and saving their people. I miss having a mature level-headed leader leading America right now. Hopefully we will be soon.
