Don't wanna downplay the shootings but if it bleeds it leads. Psychos killing people didn't just start a few years ago.

all the guy has to do is read the reviews on the trailer on youtube and he'd know if it's a good movie or not.

a bit dramatic?! talk to me when you used to live a 1/4 mile from the marathon bombings and were at a house party the day of several blocks from where they went off.

I'm not gonna tell you how you should feel but I think some of the angst people feel is because the media covers these shootings more intensely than ever before. The murder rate in the US is historically low in many major cities.

Talk to me after you spend 18 months in Afghanistan and fear for your life each day you wake up. Talk to me after you hear multiple car bombs shake your camp or you hear sniper fire from the distance. Talk to me after you see kids searching through the garbage for food. We aren't even close to that kind of place. Their houses get an hour of power per day. I'm more than comfortable on my laptop, in my recliner watching my flat screen.

Trust me, we live in the greatest country on earth and it's a dream come true compared to Iraq or Afghanistan.

That theater is exactly .7 miles from
my house.

Been there 100 times.

Im not home right now but it blows my mind how something like that can happen so close to my house.

That is one of the most safest places in America .

Smack dab in the middle of town.

Unreal

There is no utopia but violent crime has consistently gone down since the 70s.

If people are on edge because there are a lot of crazies out there, I can see their point of view. Local news gets most of its ratings by reporting on homicides.

oh i agree, turn on the nightly news and its never anything positive about whats going on its ALL negative, its been like that for years. couple that with the corrupt politicians we have in office and the wiping out of the middle class, more and more poverty etc and all im saying is im not surprised by this anymore AND it will get worse. guy i used to follow named gerald celente was kind of a conspiracy theorist but i remember one slogan he used to reiterate all the time and it sticks to me this day, "when people lose everything, they have nothing else to lose, and they lose it" not saying this is the case here but i do wholeheartedly believe it is in some circumstances.

Not to turn this into Siskel and Ebert but the movie Whiplash is pretty good. Touches on the sensationalizing of violent crime culture in local media.
