I think golf is now in good hands as we distance ourselves away from the Tiger era stench. We now have someone who is great for golf leading into a new era

You crack me up. You make yourself out to be this great golf fan, but in reality its statements like this that show you are truly only a Tiger hater. What Rory did this weekend was definitely good for golf, but without the "Tiger era stench" as you call it, golf would not be where it is today. Say all you want, but you are not a true golf fan...

Relax bro just having some fun. Looking forward to Tiger coming back ! Need some new rivalries. My boy Phil keeps fucking up with 3 ft putts, so he is out except for an occasional tease ,so Rory is now carrying the new torch.

well, to refer to the Tiger era with the word stench is in bad taste if you ask me whether having fun or not. The problem is with you, no one knows when you are serious or having fun. And just because Rory wins 1 major doesn't automatically hand him the torch. Obviously this win gives him the opportunity to grab that torch, but right now there is no one that stands out above the rest the way Tiger did during his era. And Im not patting Tiger on the back, just stating a fact.

The troublesome thing to me with this years US Open is where were the Americans? Here is the list of top 15 US players this week...

1. Kevin Chappel
2. Robert Garrigus
3. Brandt Snedecker
4. Davis Love III
5. Heath Slocum
6. Webb Simpson
7. Matt Kuchar
8. Bo Van Pelt
9. Steve Stricker
10. Ryan Palmer
11. Patrick Cantley(a)
12. Gary Woodland
13. Dustin Johnson
14. Bill Haas
15. Brandt Jobe

Except for 4 or 5 of these guys, the average golf fan would be asking, " who the hell are these guys?"

He plays on the European Tour for the most part. He very rarely plays here except for the majors.

This wasn't just a win, this was the beginning of a new era. Very impressive, you just don't blow the field away and not see what most likely, is some dominating golf coming ahead with one of the most talented players to come along in some time. You guys can hope and dream Tiger will be back to crack the Top 20 and challenge for majors. Nice thought, but I'm not holding my breath. 2 years of nothing is what you have had lately. BTW, Barry left MLB with a bad stench too.

He's still just a baby.

Now before anyone gets their panties in a wad, my 19 protection was a joke too.

But, the skies the limit for the kid, everybody said he'll never recover from the Masters melt down.................

Thats what they wanted to believe, Tiger followers are use to golfers laying down, melting down, that's not going to happen if Tiger ever gets his game back now. Thats why it will be tougher then ever for him to win a major.

LOL, you are right about Barry leaving baseball, but the stench created by Bud Selig is still there...

Euro tour is probably tougher at this time, definatly better players
I don't know about the Euro tour, but the Euro players are definitely better. Especially with the emergence of Swedish and South African golfers. But I think in 5 years the American PGA Tour will look much different than it does now. I think it will look more like the womens PGA Tour looks. The names on the leaderboard will read like a Pusan phone book with 4 or 5 Korean golfers in the top 10 every week. They are starting to come over here in droves because of the money. And unlike the Euros, they will be playing in U.S. every week getting used to our courses and becoming americanized.

No more Rory-Tiger comparisons. Tiger was the best golfer whoever lived. It wasn't just the majors, it was the shear number of tournaments he won. Look the kid had a phenomenal Open and would have probably have won the Masters if he didn't blow up. Come back and talk to me after he has 10 wins in the majors. Here's another thing. Rory has no personality or style. He isn't like Tiger, Jack, Arnie or Seve. He has no appeal other than he is skilled golfer. Tiger had a great story and a commanding presence. Rory wasn't on anything like Mike Douglas show when he was a toddler. He certainly wasn't a prodigy. He's not from the US which in itself means his appeal will be lower. There are so many reasons why Tiger brought non-golf fans to the TV. His laser focus, his intensity, his aloofness. Sorry to bust everybody's bubble but Babe Ruth only come around once a century.

Tiger probably is not walking thru that door again. Most of us are living in the now and not the past. Tiger was great, no issue there, but times are changing. We have a new star to follow now. The galleries were behind him and saw greatness. You keep hoping for a Tiger returnand living in the past, I will watch whats happening now.

What is happening now is the foreign contingent taking over...Jason Day has finished second in both the Masters and the US OPEN....the Americans are just not fulfilling their promise...Ricky Fowler has to step it up...

Europeans are looking good, as is the rest of the world...America has to step it up...

He should win 1 or 2 for the next 10 years, then a new young guy will take over. Anywhere from 9 to 14!

Day will be good competition and he too could be a multiple major winner!

I think Rory will get atleast 8 or 9 if he is injury free. Most limberbacks these dayz put too much stress on their joints and end up hurting in some aspect throughout their career.
