I have been playing college football 2H's pretty successfully using something a bit more in depth.
Total yards is a solid, solid base to start out. You will win money following letsgohoosiers for sure over the course of the season.
I will tell you this. It does not work in the NFL, only in college.
Also, using this system, you should probably narrow the games down to the ones where the closing number is in the single digits. (90% of double digit favorites will have the yardage edge at half)
Also narrow to games that are non-blowouts at half. (All games where the margin is 14 or less)
Also, it will work better in non-conference games than conference games. (Which will be good for bowl season)
I also go in depth with 1st downs, TOP, YPP, total plays, turnovers, fluke points, turnover on downs in the red zone, punts, return yards and more, but sticking with the total yardage in the 1H is the perfect place to start for a very solid base.
Also knowing what the line should be is just as important. And having an acct at the Greek is a must. (1st to put up 2H numbers 95% of the time)
