Georgia: New defensive line coach Tray Scott will earn $325,000 in base salary, according to the AJC. Scott was set to earn $375,000 at Ole Miss, but it’s possible he could receive supplemental income at UGA.


Miami (FL): Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski has added the title of assistant head coach. The Hurricanes were No. 5 nationally in tackles for loss and No. 22 in sacks last season. Kuligowski is entering his second year on staff.


LSU: New running backs / assistant head coach Tommie Robinson will earn $575,000 in the first year of his 3-year deal, with an increase to $600,000 in the second two, and LSU paid his $237,500 buyout to USC, according to The Advocate. Wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph will earn $225,000 annually on a 2-year deal.


South Carolina: Former Tennessee player Corey Miller has joined the South Carolina staff as an assistant strength coach, according to 247Sports. Miller played at Tennessee from 2010-13 and has been a personal trainer in Knoxville.


Auburn: North Carolina running backs coach Larry Porter will join the Auburn offensive staff, according to 247Sports. Porter has been at UNC since 2014 and has also been an assistant at Texas, Arizona State LSU, Oklahoma State and Arkansas State. He was Memphis head coach from 2010-11.



Arkansas: Atlanta Falcons defensive assistant Chad Walker has joined the Arkansas staff as outside linebackers coach. Walker spent two years with the Falcons and has also worked at Oklahoma, Mississippi College, Bryant and the Miami Dolphins.

Reinhardt University (GA): Defensive line coach Quentin Moses died in a house fire Sunday morning. Moses worked at Reinhardt for six seasons and played at Georgia and in the NFL. He was 33 years old.

Lane Kiffin hired Charlie Weis Jr. (Charlie's fat ass son) as his TE's coach. The kid is around 23, 24 years old. He's been an "analyst" at Alabama the last two years. He spent his freshman year at UF as a "student assistant" (Charlie Sr. was Muschamp's OC in 2011)....then he followed his dad to Kansas for the disaster that Charlie Sr. put on as a "student assistant".....then went to Alabama as an analyst. I suppose Saban owed Charlie Sr. a favor? Why would Saban give that fat POS a job? And now Kiffin hired him as his TE's coach? WTF?

New England Patriots tight ends coach Brian Daboll is expected to interview for the Alabama offensive coordinator job, a source told Fox Sports on Monday. The 41-year-old Daboll, who has been an OC in the NFL for the Chiefs, Browns and Dolphins, was a graduate assistant under Nick Saban at Michigan State from 1998-99

Six weeks after saying he planned to finish his college career at LSU, Brandon Harris has had a change of heart.
The quarterback announced Monday he will play out his eligibility elsewhere as a graduate transfer and has been given a full release by Tigers coach Ed Orgeron. Harris will graduate this spring, and he said in a statement on Twitter that he's excited to find the "best place" to further his education and playing career next season.

Saw today that Vandy's not going to have a spring game. That's a bad move, imo. As an SEC team, the SEC Network would have aired the game. It's a recruiting miss on Vandy's part.

Werner would be a good pick up for bama but there is a problem. If he is hired as an analyst it would be a violation for him to instruct or work with the QB's. He could enroll in grad school and be a Ga - that would get you around that obstacle. Or, you could champion an old bama tradition and ignore the NCAA.

I agree with you on Daboll - strange hire. Hard not to be successful with all that talent, but on the surface it doesn't seem like his philosophy meshes with Hurts skill set or the direction bama has taken their offense the last couple of years.

two more leaving Tuscaloosa as our Director of Football Operations and Director of Player Development have taken new jobs.

Add one more vacancy within the football department at Alabama that is in need of being filled. Alabama Director of Football Operations Justin Dickens is reportedly leaving the program, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com.
Where Dickens is heading next is unknown and unreported. Alabama has not officially made any statement regarding the status of Dickens, although it is worth noting his profile page on Alabama’s football website has been removed.
Alabama hired Dickens to serve as the program’s director of football operations in 2015 after he had spent one year at Michigan in the same role. Dickens also spent three years in the Michigan program working with the football program’s public relations and media relations efforts.

Ole Miss has completed a search for its defensive line coach.

The university officially announced the hire of Alabama's Freddie Roach as defensive line coach Thursday night. Roach has been the Crimson Tide's director of player development the past two seasons.

“Freddie brings instant credibility to our defensive line room,” Hugh Freeze said in a statement. “His coaching skills and passion for the game make a him a great fit for our staff. As a highly successful player and coach, Freddie has been a part of championship programs, and we look forward to having his experience on our team.”
Scott was hired to replace Chris Kiffin, who took the defensive coordinator job on his brother Lane's staff at Florida Atlantic in December.

RT, I'm going to type this real slow. Pay close attention. I said if he was hired as an analyst it would create a problem. Didn't say it would be a problem if he is moved into a coaching position.

As for the 10 coach rule, not everyone expects it to go into effect this year. Actually, people who keep up expect just the opposite. The original proposal passed in October was amended this month with a new start date of January 2018. With a majority of non-power 5 schools opposing the amendment it could get pushed back even further. I know that will not sit well with saban (or should I say, in his world) but it is what it is.

Seriously rt, I'm just poking fun at you in a joking kinda way. Werner is a damn good coach. If you guys get him on board - be it coach, analyst or what not - he will be an asset.

avg 10th coach for a group of 5 will be about 40k ... silly


Kiffin just hired Trickett as TE coach for 50k and FAU obviously opens the books a little more than typically non-major (at least this year). probably even get a GA to join you full time for 25-30k since the avg GA makes 1500/mo.


i know there are 3 big votes coming .... 1 is 10th assistant, 1 is not being able to hire a person close to the recruit (the Harbaugh rule), but I forgot the big game rule.


Will be surprised if the non-power schools get a 10th coach voted down. would seem the more FT opportunities, the better.

that is a separate rule being voted on called IAWP (indiv assoc with prospect)...called The Harbaugh Rule since he hired Gary's high school coach and just hired a 2019 5-star QB's dad. It's been in effect for college hoops and will likely get implemented in football in 60 days. you won't be able to give a job to a recruit's IAWP more than 2 years before he enrolls through 2 years after he enrolls.

That guy went to Oregon to be the wr coach and I believe it was because if they don't add the 10th coach then that guy would've had to have been just an analyst which he is way overqualified for. As far as hiring Gary's coach, Partridge was hired more then a year before Gary signed and he was also just named 247's recruiter of the year so he is also a pretty good coach/ recruiter.

I get the concept of hiring a high school coach being an issue but to me its hardly a big deal. So now if this rule goes through you're basically telling high school coaches sorry, but you basically can't get a good college job now. Let's be real, every big time college tries to recruit some of the same schools, like IMG. SO basically any IMG coach is going to be off limits to the major programs now. Guess it sucks to be a good high school coach if/ when this passes.

and nobody is telling a HS coach he can't get ANY college job. He just can't get a college job at the SAME SCHOOL one of his kids enrolled in the past or future 2 years.


So for an IMG coach it will be a little tougher since so many get recruited but for a typical HS coach (like Rashan Gary's in NJ) that might put out 1 or 2 D1 kids/yr there's an obvious reason for the rule.
