Question pops please. Last night i took the under 11 in the Arizona game today. My question is, how do they know so far in advance what the O/U number is going to be? Do they only go by the pitcher? Thanks

most of the OS put up numbers for the next day game that you can bet the day before. tomorrows games have been up at least 4 hours etc. i do the pitchers 1st (in my pdws format and i already know what the numbers should and who's going to be at HP and weather. once they show it's just a matter of matching them up and going for it

they go by the pitchers number 1, but do adj for a few umps and wind conditions in cubs home games that why the number is so late in coming on the o/u

Thank you Pops. One more question please because i think i'm starting to get it. If an under ump is at home plate is he there for the three or four game series or is he there for just one game in the series? Thanks!

love questions. especially when someone is trying to understand the small things that give them a little extra advantage

there are 4 umps per game. they have a new ump crew starting with every 1st game of a series and they normally work the entire series

they change positions the next day from there previous ump position the 1st day. the rotation is always counter clock wise. so the hp ump from the 1st game goes to 3rd and the 1st base ump comes to 1st

the only time you have an advantage on the key umps is for the 1st and possible 2nd game of a series depend if the lines are out for the next day game b4 the umps are announced. if you pick them up early enough you should get about a 1 run advantage. eg hirshbeck in milk opened at 9- and closed at 8-

will almost always happen that way. the guys the make the lines will adj the number when they know an key under ump is going to be at HP. eg with texas yesterday and fletcher as ol number should have been closer to 11 than 9-

below is a site that you can use for ump info. it's also in my master spreadsheets

Dumb question-when you put in opening lines do you adjust the M/L down for a home dog? DB shows all games by favorite. Dogs are usually 10 to 15 cents less. Is this accounted for? Yesterday I show some dif numbers on some teams.

my macro adjust them all to 10 cent numbers off of the ML fav

eg if mets were -200 than the other team would be +190

took what is now a bad number during the night at 10 -110. just took some more at +110 and will take the better juice vs the higher number

Using historical data, the 10.5 is worth about 15 cents more than the 10.

why would an ump be considered a waldo in one leauge but not the other?

Also i read one statement that i want to clarify, you said that a pitcher switching from the National to the American Leauge can expect his ERA to drop about a point?? Is that correct or do i have it backwards?
