They will need to do something the NBA finals ratings suck more and more each year TV isnt going to continue throwing big bucks at the NBA if the ratings keep getting worse.

Football dont need to be fixed the superbowl could have Detriot play Houston this year and it would get record ratings the superbowl is now a party day for americans and it dont matter who plays in the game people will watch

Heard local talk on the radio about this and semi agreed. I think it's a combination of a long season, NBA not usually being on ABC(usually on TNT, ESPN), people being outside now more, this is the time when least amount of tv is watched, thats why all the reruns are on now, and the matchup.) the nba makes way too much money to have to worry about getting kicked off TV. Arguably top 3 league worldwide viewership wise behind the Premier League and some cricket stuff.

And the reseeding talk is getting dull to. the NFC has been miserable for years yet they get a bid in the super bowl. it all evens out over time.

It would have made alot of sense over the last 10 years - from 1999 to 2003 SA and the Lakers were hands down the two best teams in the league - I think they played each other every year in the second round - it should have been the finals - just like the Suns and SA should have been the finals this year - right now all the rookies would be sitting back anticipating a great series thinking the Suns could really win and the vets like me would be sitting back chuckling already knowing how this novel unfolds year after year.

Seymour,

Game 5 was do or die for Phoenix. Their starter's especially Nash played way too many minutes because of the short bench. The lack of rest for the starter's showed in the fouth Qtr, and subsequently in Game 6. Were all entitled to our opinion's but I believe San Antonio was by far the fresher team in the Fourth qtr of game 5, and all of game 6. Ginobli, Duncan & Parker got way more rest in Game 5, than Nash.

You know if Queens had balls they'd be Kings - your tenuous hypothesis is laughable - thanks - I enjoyed reading it.

Yeah well being from Boston we know all about Duncan. He was the prize and you got him.

Today in the Boston Globe was an article on Tony Parker. The Spurs were real lucky to get him too. Do you know how many bums were taken ahead of him? The Celts wanted him but Red insisted on Joe Forte from NC...and many many other teams did the same thing. Parker bombed his first NBA tryout with SA but got once last chance and played great. You have to get lucky with the draft and personel decisions and they did.

To me Parker and Ginboli weren't luck - 28 teams had a chance to pick Parker and the Spurs took him and more had a shot at Manu - they got rewarded for making a great choice - Duncan was a fluke and would have been the perfect fit for Boston and it's history of playing winning no nonsense team basketball - he would be a modern day Bill Russell - immortal like Bird - I'm glad Duncan went where he did but if he had to be somewhere else he belonged in Boston.

Agree season is to long and people are out on their boats or taking in their kids little league games or on a golf course somewhere.

And the NBA dont need to worry about being kicked off network TV like Hockey but the price they get for broadcast rights could suffer it will be interesting to see what they get following next year when the ABC contract expires.

Seymour you have the be the most biased & biggest homer on this site. If you want to lie to yourself about Phoenix go ahead. I guess the fantasy is something you hold dear to your heart.

ABC paid 2.4 billion for the TV rights I expect they wanted a better rating number for the finals then what the NBA has gave them from 2003- present.

Throw out Game 5 and lets have a 5 games series - the Suns lost 3-2 - that's reality and that's taking away a Spurs win.

You want us to assume that if Stoudamire played in Game 5 the Suns would have won Game 5 and if they won Game 5 they would have then won a Game 7 - at some point you have to play the games and go by the ACTUAL RESULTS and not assumptions - why even have the playoffs when we can just have assumptions - congrats to Dallas for their first ring in 2007.

He played in 5 games and they lost 3 of them - they had a losing record against SA in games in which he played - he had 38 points and they got they got their asses kicked in game 6 - I know - he would have put up 75 in game 5 and 85 in game 7 and the Suns would have won it all - romantic dreams.

Oh wait - there would be no game 7 because the Suns would have been so fresh after their game 5 win that the Suns would have won game 6 - these analysis' are dizzying.

wrigley you're forgetting that the game is being broadcasted on there name(ABC) to over 200 countires in 46 languages. here there might not be much interest, but i guarantee they are rolling in dough.

Seymour,

You have all the answers. Thanks for your stupid fckn logic, eventhough it makes no sense to me. Whole series changed after NBA mangement rewarded San Antonio. Tuff for a team to overcome that type of handicap. But you seem to have all the answers, and you seem to believe that the activity and outcome of game 5 had no significant effect towards the outcome of this series. No sense in debating this issue with a homer!!:aktion033

This is exactly right. Suns lost three times with Stuodimire. The bottom line is the Suns dont give a shit about defense and will never win anything until they learn "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS"..........

It's this simple. Series was tied 2-2, Phoenix fought back to regain home court advantage, then NBA management decided enough is enough, let's suspend Sun's 2nd best player and best bench player for the all important 5th game. Basically series ended with that decision. To much of a handicap to overcome.
Sorry paid2play, meant to say "you homers never heard of the word gift". My bad but you would think you would be smart enough to know what word belonged in that sentence.

Last time I check the series ended in Game 6 when Amare had 38 points.

Are you telling me the NBA didn't want the Suns in the finals. The team with the last two mvp's. The team with possibly the most exciting offense ever. The nba would rather have the so-called "boring" team advance. Yea, your right, the NBA didnt want to see PHX vs CLEVELAND. Dude, wake up. Omare got suspended because he broke a very clear rule. Get over it!
