I don't think Pat will mind if I copy his post; Zel said it so well it bears repeating:

"Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.

For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.

No one should dare to even think about being the Commander in Chief of this country if he doesn't believe with all his heart that our soldiers are liberators abroad and defenders of freedom at home.

But don't waste your breath telling that to the leaders of my party today. In their warped way of thinking America is the problem, not the solution."

What I think is a riot is the way Lander, Mudbone and all of the other zealots are trying to marginalize Senator Miller by attemptinhg to label him as a right wing nut case.

Hey guys, he's one of yours - don't get angry with him because he's telling it like it is. Kerry might do to you what he did to the Soldiers in Vietnam - stab you in the back!

The soldier protects and defends the country from foreign threats, as most countries military forces do, some better and more efficient than others....

When one looks at these countries, yes thier soldiers serve thier country, but they do not provide the freedoms listed in the first paragraph quoted above....name any country you want....China, Russia, Germany....thier soldiers are fighting for thier country but they don't come home to the same freedoms as we do because those countries lack the one thing that makes them a free country and makes thier citizens free to live a free life:

The Constitution.

Yes, soldiers fight to maintain the citizens freedom, but if the laws and rights that the citizens live under leave them oppressed and severely limited, then whose freedom is the soldier fighting for?

The day the Constitution gets scrapped and set aside will be the day when it won't matter who is fighting for the citizens.

What a piece of work Zell Miller is :-
Georgia "Democratic" Senator Zell Miller on John Kerry at the Republican convention Wednesday night:

"For more than twenty years, on every one of the great issues of freedom and security, John Kerry has been more wrong, more weak and more wobbly than any other national figure. As a war protestor, Kerry blamed our military. As a Senator, he voted to weaken our military. And nothing shows that more sadly and more clearly than his vote this year to deny protective armor for our troops in harms way, far-away."

Editor's note: While the press is busy with oohs and aahs over Sen. Miller's fiery attacks on John Kerry's military votes in the Senate, it's important to remember that three years ago, Miller introduced Kerry at a dinner in his home state of Georgia, saying that Kerry was "an authentic national hero" who had "strengthened our military."
