Purple Rain, I will always be a fan of Prince's work as a soundtrack composer... great music in Batman by Tim Burton.

One of the greatest covers ever recorded:

Nothing Compares 2 U. Forget the O'Connor version. His live version w/ Rosie Gaines from 1993 is the best one hands down. It's on the "Hits / The B-Sides" album.

Favorite song! ? I just know I just know that I've heard enough of his songs the last 2 days to last me a lifetime, please no more. If I hear purple rain 1 more time I'm going to get ill. I always thought he was a gay guy but I just read that he had a few wifes.

I grew up when Michael Jackson and Prince were both very popular. I really liked both of their music. They have a lot of similarities. In terms of just talent I think the nod goes to Prince. Michael had great music and was a great performer. Prince on the other hand wrote all of his music and played countless instruments. Michael was not known for those two qualities. For that reason the nod from an overall talent standpoint goes with Prince. From just a strict music standpoint I probably liked Michael Jacksons music better than Prince but the differnce is Michael did not do everything from beginning to end like Prince did. There is a different level of talent when you are creative enough to write the words and music to so many songs.

Agree 100%. He would play every instrument on his albums. How many popular singers even write their own lyrics these days? Basically none.
