Oh, reminds me of one day a while back when I'm working in a residential area planting flowers and I see these two big Rottweilers get loose from their backyard, come down the block a bit and then they catch a poor effin' cat and play tug o' war with him.
Not good.
Had to use my shovel to scrape him up after the dogs owner came down the street with a beer in his hand, going, "...oh man, that's too bad. Now you boys get on back to the house!!...Hey, man, you got a shovel?"

Ask the cat if his owner let him run loose or if he just escaped? If the cat says the owner let him run loose, then pull over and wait for the owner to come look for his pancaked pet, and then run over the owner too...then call the roadkill dept and let them scrape them both up...
