licking your fur suffices for the most part, but a once a year wet bath is needed, IMO !
Cats are not just "licking their fur"...heh
Their tongues are abrasive for a reason. They are literally "scrubbing" their skin clean of dirt or other foreign substances.
And as long as they are sufficiently hydrated, they will relentlessly work to remove tangles and mats which is where objects can be trapped and potentially be odorous.
Thus my assertion earlier that as long as they're healthy, a cat will not have anything on them which needs to be "washed off".
Finally, they do not perspire through their skin, so that's not an issue as it is with human beings.
