Slim - I will be the first to say that Stan Van Gundy has done a great job. At one point early in the season it looked like he might be the first coach canned this year in the NBA. Since then he has created a very nice competitve team. Will they win the East? No sorry, but they cannot get by either Indiana or Detroit. Will they be a tuff out, and maybe win a series, absolutely.

Jersey is not good enough...neither is Indiana... I somehow see the Pistons messing it up and the Miami Heat are red red hot......

Heat to surprise the free world this year

I think the Pacers walk all over the East. They are alone so far above anyone in their conference. Only the Nets could stop them, but they just don't look like they have it this year. I think there has to be some internal stuff going on in the Meadowlands. The Heat are definitely making a nice run, but playoff basketball is just different. They don't play that Pat Riley defense which wins in the playoffs but frustrates players and teams during the regular season when it causes such a grinding style. They will have to change up their game a lot to get by more than one series.

Pacers and Pistons scored a combined 140 points in Detroit's 79-61 victory. An NBA season low for two teams. btw. This year the Pacers are 20-8 vs Western Conference teams, while the Pistons are 17-11, no other eastern Conference teams have a winning record vs. the west.

With a healthy O'neal, and Tinsley, Ron Artest playing his best ball ever, a well-rested Reggie, and a solid bench, the Pacers will take the East in a tough battle with Detroit..

Slim..The Heat have talent, Wade and Odom are players..Van Gundy getting the most from his talent..Pacers looked terrible yesterday without JT at the point..Very vulnerable with Anderson and other backups..Pistons to tough in the East..

If I was to pick a dark horse it would be the Heat..They are young, run the floor, play defense, and have a capable coach..

Lots of times, the PACERS have no answer for ODOM.............he can dominate a stretch of the game and keep them close.

Not sure about winning the East, Pacers look like that is theirs, especially since Motown has been exposed/injured. Making lotsa money on Heat. Go way out on a limb, instead of Heat winning East, they cover +11 today. Win again game #6. I took Pacers +1.40 to win in seven. As far as not being respected by linemakers/public, Get a lot of value with a team that actually could be, the Best in the Least. Best wishes...OF
