Just one, but I was the lucky one to find an 8th grade through post college good friend\roommate dead after he had a seizure in his sleep & suffocated on his waterbed.

Fuckin shitty, big time

had a friend drown in his shower, very similar (epileptic seizure)

I figure the stress of marriage has taken 30 years off my life, and I actually died two years ago, but nobody told me yet !

I worry about everything...I guess it's more common then we realize...I go thru periods where I obsess on death...can't really fathom it, can't imagine being gone for the rest of eternity...I'm not big on religion either...

okay now I'm depressed, thanks.

Agree, death is nothing to be afraid of, but the way in which you die certainly is...

That's why you should be able to choose your end time( like if in pain), even pets get that choice made for them.

worst bit of comical timing in the history of RX.

As far as dying definately a anxiety, zanax chewing item for me.

Have had numerous heart tests as I always feel im on my way out.

Wife calls me Sanford.

"Today would be a good day to die !"

The original:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tim-giago/today-is-a-good-day-to-d_b_47789.html

"Tasunka Witko, Crazy Horse, was a holy man of the Lakota. He often rode into battle unafraid of the bullets whizzing past his horse. His words, "Today is a good day to die" are immortalized amongst the Lakota. His words epitomized the philosophy of the Indian people. Our lives are a circle just as the stars; the moon and the sun are circles. We are born, we live and we die. There were no greater prophets than Crazy Horse and the holy men and women of the many tribes of what is now America."

Wow, I wish I had that attitude - I'm scared to die and scared to get old - if I have to have a surgery I'm paranoid of the anesthia - to the point of shaking - I'm so scared that I might not wake up once they put me under.

Literally as I ran across this thread my 17-old son started telling me about the funeral he attended today for a school buddy who died this week of juvenile diabetes. He also lost his hockey team goalie last year in a snowmobile accident.

To think I have been severely depressed around my family the past two days because I learned the engine in my car is kaput and I'm facing a lot of $ to fix it or replace the vehicle.

Certainly put things in perspective. The parents of those lads would trade places with my wife and me in an instant.

I am so ashamed. I am soooo blessed to have my boy.

Thanks fellow Rxers for starting and responding to this thread.

This place is far from just a gambling forum.

the gov't wants you dead too....at least by the time you retire (67?) or ASAP once you collect SS.

They probably don't mind if 20 year military guys drop dead in their 40's either.

Nice thought if you rely on VA hospitals or Medicare.

I'm not scared of dying,
And I don't really care.
If it's peace you find in dying,
Well then let the time be near.
If it's peace you find in dying,
And if dying time is here,
Just bundle up my coffin
'Cause it's cold way down there.
I hear that its cold way down there.
Yeah, crazy cold way down there.

Chorus:

And when I die, and when I'm gone,
There'll be one child born
In this world to carry on,
to carry on.

Now troubles are many, they're as deep as a well.
I can swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.
Swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell,
But I'll never know by living, only my dying will tell.
Yes only my dying will tell.
Yeah, only my dying will tell.

Chorus

Give me my freedom for as long as I be.
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me.
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me,
And all I ask of dying is to go naturally.
Oh I want to go naturally.

Here I go,
Hey Hey!
Here comes the devil,
Right Behind.
Look out children,
Here he comes!
Here he comes! Hey...

Don't want to go by the devil.
Don't want to go by demon.
Don't want to go by Satan,
Don't want to die uneasy.
Just let me go naturally.

and when I die,
When I'm dead, dead and gone,
There'll be one child born in our world to carry on,
To carry on.
Yeah, yeah...
