NFL WEEK 3 PRESEASON POWER FOOTBALL

THURSDAY (0-3) -$3,140

3k (HIGH ROLLER) New Orleans Over 44 -105 (Lost 41 Points)

McCown played well enough on the second preseason outing to provide some encouragement for New Orleans’ offense. If the unit can just punch the ball into the end zone instead of settling for field goals, it should provide adequate support for a defense that is clicking. And it is a Saints’ defense that is now set to face a Pittsburgh offense that has sputtered. Bell may not play in this one, and even if he does he will be rusty–and not yet back into the swing of things in terms of full contact. The Saints are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine on fieldturf. Look for those trends to continue.

1k San Francisco Under 46.5 (Easy Blowout Winner 31 Points)

With week three of the preseason be considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season, it means the starters will play into the second half. That also means the starting defenses will be on the field for an extended period of time. Neither Rodgers or Kaepernick have taken a single snap through two games and are not likely to come out on fire. The trends heavily favor the under, and so do I.

1k San Francisco -2.5 -105 (Lost 10-21)

1k Tampa Bay -3.5 -105 (Super Easy Blowout Winner 30-13)

3k (VEGAS SOURCE) Baltimore -2.5 (Super Easy Blowout Winner 30-9)

Whereas the Lions are coming off a blowout loss to the Bengals, the Ravens are a perfect 2-0 during this preseason and have been solid on both sides of the ball. That is even without Flacco on the field, but the two-time Super Bowl champion should be suiting up this weekend. With Johnson in fine form, Baltimore is in good shape at the quarterback position for Week 3 of the preseason and it is going up against a Detroit secondary that has been vulnerable and in a little bit of turmoil. Thus the Ravens should treat the home crowd to another win while improving–for whatever it’s worth before the regular season begins–to 3-0.

1k Los Angeles +5 -102 (Lost 9-17)

The Rams keep finding ways to win in the preseason, and the quarterback duo of Keenum and Goff is not looking half bad. While Los Angeles seems to know who their starter is, the Broncos still seem uncertain. You can expect Keenum to play a solid first half while Denver continues to try to sort through their complicated situation.

1k Kansas City -2.5 -114 (Easy Blowout Winner 23-7)

1k Kansas City Under 40.5 (Easy Blowout Winner 30 Points)

I am taking the Chiefs in this match up. Both Alex Smith and Nick Foles were terrific last week, going a combined 27 for 34 for 270 yards, and the Bears are very thin at the corner back position so I think the Chiefs will have their way in the air. Also, the Chiefs are very deep defensively, and I think the Bears who are average at best offensively will have a tough time moving the ball. Cutler and Hoyer have not thrown for a touchdown in the first two games, and Hoyer has not looked good throwing two interceptions and went just 4 for 14 last week, so I think the Chiefs are the pick in this one.

1k Philadelphia +1.5 -105 (Easy Su Blowout Winner 33-22)

The reality is that the Colts just do not strike me as a very good football team right now. Since the squad was exposed in the deflategate game, nothing impressive has happened on the field. It will be good for Luck to get over a half of football under his belt, but it has been a long time since he has played extensively in live action. Given the fact that the Eagles defense has looked impressive to this point, it may not be the best environment to return against.

3k (VEGAS SOURCE) Jacksonville -1.5 -106 (Easy Winner 26-21)

Yes, it is just preseason, but with the high expectation put on the young Jaguars this year, this is a game they will want to win. You want to go into the regular season with some momentum and next week will not really count as it will be mostly rookies and players just hoping to make the roster. This week of course is the final dress rehearsal for the starters who are expected to play into the third quarter. With Jacksonville playing at home, this will be their time to show what kind of strides they have actually made.

3k (HIGH ROLLER) Minnesota -6 -105 (Super Easy Blowout Winner 23-10)

I am going with the Vikings in this match up. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer plays to win in the preseason, with the Viking sporting a 10-1 preseason record since Zimmer has been at the helm. The Vikings have looked very organized defensively in their first two games with Backup QB Shaun Hill looking great, connecting on 16 of his 24 passes through the first two games. Also, the Chargers offense did not score an offensive touchdown last week and even though they sat out regulars I like the Vikings terrific defense to hold the Chargers offense down and cover the small spread.

1k Houston PK +100 (Easy Blowout Winner 34-24)

The Cardinals’ defense has not been terrible through two games, but the unit sure could use Nkemdiche. Oakland, for example, churned out 166 yards on the ground in the preseason opener. As for the offense, it would take a hit without Fitzgerald on the field. Whereas Arizona has not even been competitive yet, Houston has won both of its contests–each by at least seven points. Osweiler and the starters were especially effective last week and should get plenty of playing time to put on an even better performance this Sunday. The Texans have not posted a losing preseason record since 2010, and at worst they will go 2-2 in 2016. But the record will likely be no worse than 3-1 after Houston gets finished with the Cardinals.

3k (VEGAS SOURCE) Atlanta -3.5 -105

The Falcons are the play here. They gave a huge edge at backup QB as Matt Schaub has hand an excellent preseason thus far and they have plenty of weapons to throw to. Last week the Atlanta offense sputtered and you can bet they will look to score a bit more here. The defense has been very stout and the Jacksonville offense has not been very good at all so far. Look for Atlanta to win by at least a TD here.

3k (HIGH ROLLER) Houston -3 -110

I am going with the Texans in this. With Romo out, Prescott will see very little, if any action as they rest him in the final preseason game, meaning we will see a lot of Cowboys’ third string quarterback Jameill Showers who has gone 19 for 37 for just one touchdown in the first three games. I like Savage and Weeden who have combined for three touchdowns a lot better than Jameill Showers. Houston has the edge on defense as well, allowing only a total of 46 points through the first three games, and I think they are the safe bet in this one.

3k (HIGH ROLLER) Detroit Under 37.5 -103

I generally lean the home game and under in every preseason game and I see no reason to change that here with how dominant the Lions strangely have been over the Bills in the preseason the past eight years. The under is 5-0 in the past five meetings.

1k Denver Under 37.5 +100

Arizona has struggled as a team throughout the preseason and this will be their last chance to gain a little momentum before the season begins. They will have the home crowd behind them, but Denver’s defense has looked stellar to this point and that does not just go for the starters. The backups, who will see plenty of time this week, helped produce a second-half shutout in last weekend’s win.

We will see a lot of the backup QB’s in this one and I like what I’ve seen from the Panthers as Derek Anderson and Joe Webb have combined to throw for five touchdowns while Landry Jones has thrown two touchdowns with four interceptions for the Steelers. Also Carolina has more depth on defense, and have been tremendous defensively this preseason, allowing only an average of 17 points per game through their first three games, so I think the are the play in this one.
