Not trying to offend anyone. I too enjoy the sport very much. Simply stating a point that it has become part of the game to flop and roll around like they are dying. Maybe relaying it to US popularity wasn't the best choice. I do feel these international players are some of the most incredible athletes around!
even the most sicko football fan (me included) fn hate the flopping and rolling around and are pissed that FIFA haven't ordered refs to hand out more cards for the diving but I don't think that effects the popularity of the sport in the usa. Americans love playoffs, for example, but i freaking despise them. If you don't know who the best team(s) are after 162 games then just stop playing
unfortunately diving in soccer will never go away until FIFA reacts because a penalty is worth so much more than in every other sport. A dive in hockey (at least 5/game btw) might get you a power play but then you're lucky if 20% of them are converted whereas a penalty in soccer is converted at over 80%.
The only answer is more cautions and then red cards for the double yellow ... and, the subject of this thread also happens to be the worst diver in world football. He's all all-around asshole...
one thing FIFA will never take seriously is the goalie flops. These guys can get a gust of wind hitting them in the calf and go down like a .22 just took them out. they actually piss me off more than the suarez's and ashley young's of the world
