I had the opportunity to meet Ric a few years ago. I told him how my mother (RIP) used to HATE him.

His response "Thank you ~ thank you very much". (and he was being polite) He "get's it". He provided more hours of entertainment for me than anyone else I can remember. May he have a great retirement hopefully he can get some gigs where he gets paid just for showing up and being ric Flair and "wooooo-ing" a couple times.

Retired doesn't mean dick in wrestling. Flair will be back in no time.

No he won't, he'll still be visible in some capacity (announcer?), he may get into the ring like Lawler does (and Taz) from time to time , but not in a match.

Did they bring back Owen Hart or Davey Boy Smith for this? Now THAT would have been something...

Roddy Piper and Dusty Rhodes would have been nice additions to the ceremony (that were not there)

Happy 60TH NATURE BOY

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/tomsorensen/story/559565.html

What do you get the man who has everything, has done everything, and to be him, you have to beat him?

I get a chocolate birthday cake with “Happy Birthday Ric” on top and “60” beneath it. Love the cake. But hoped 60 would be bigger. Hoped 60 would be big enough to see from a low-flying plane.

We could get everybody in the restaurant to sing “Happy Birthday.”
“You do,” says Ric Flair, “and I'll never talk to you again.”
The Nature Boy turns 60 today.
“Can you believe it?” asks Flair.
I can't.

The year Flair was born, Harry Truman was president, 31-year-old Billy Graham completed a hugely successful tent campaign and Sam Snead won his first Masters. The most popular movie and record were – oops, movies and records had not yet been invented.

Does this mean you are now the Nature Man?
“Does that mean I'm going to grow up anytime soon?” asks Flair. “I feel like I'm 25. That's the problem.”
The problem is to feel 60 when you're 25.

We open the white box at Dean & Deluca at Phillips Place, the restaurant Flair chooses for the interview, and carefully extract the dark cake. Customers see “60” and express surprise. When Flair walks to the counter to get a cup of coffee, a woman who appears older than he is comes over and looks at the number.

“Sixty?” she asks. “I thought he was 80.”

“I don't feel any different,” Flair says when he returns, almost everybody in the restaurant watching him. “Sixty doesn't bother me. Fifty didn't bother me. Forty did because somebody told me I'd have to stop wrestling.”
Flair still works for WWE in public relations, but you know he'll wrestle again. Nobody has ever done it, professionally wrestling, as well.
Here is what 60 looks like.

Flair's face is tan, his hair is blond and he's in shape. He weighed 232 pounds when he wrestled his last match, and on Tuesday he weighs, pre-cake, 233. He works out at least four days a week and bench presses 300 pounds. He wrestles with his kids, David and Reid. It's not, however, like horsing around with your kids in the living room and letting them jump onto your back from the top of the sofa. David and Reid wrestle professionally.

Flair has four children, three grandchildren and a deep sense of peace.

“Charlotte's amazing,” he says between bites of cake. “Isn't it amazing? And it just keeps getting better. The respect people have for me, the way they treat me – I wouldn't leave it for the world.”

The only other athlete/icon I've encountered who so willingly embraces fans and signs autographs is Richard Petty.

Flair is not introspective. He won't wake up this morning and look back. He admits he could have made better decisions and saved more money.
“But what would I do with it?” he asks. “At the end of the day, I'm the happiest man alive.”

Ever tempted to lie about your age? “Never,” says Flair. “Isn't that funny? I'm at ease being myself. I never had to be anyone else.”

Last night when he Retired, and they brought back some of the Old Timers
It was Kind of Sad. and I Believe that the Tears coming from him were the Real Deal.

Sad because like you said, 36 Years of Wrestling, Entertaining, the Kids, The Fans, The guy was a True Icon of Wrestling.

Here's to You Mr. Ric Flair ! Wooooooooooo

You're right, sad that he retired: Although he never was the most skilled wrestler and pretty limited in his wrestling moves, he was always a great entertainer and provided a great show and emotions. :103631605

But on the other hand I'm really glad to see Flair still being in that shape, doing so good and being happy with his life.
After all the wear & tear he put on his body with all those matches, things could have easily be way worse like proven by guys like Brian Knobbs.
So from that point of view I'm quite happy to see, that Rourke's great performance of Randy "The Ram" Robinson doesn't resemble the Nature Boy's life.

True story about me and RF. At halftime of the 95 FSU/ Fla game I was using the mens urinal. I happened to see out of the corner of my eye, Mr Ric Flair in the urinal next to me. I could not help myself, I LOOKED!

My first thought was to smack RF up side his head as he had the Smallest DVCK I had ever seen. Probably, lucky for me, I left in disgust after seeing his tiny dick.:):) That is what steroids do to a man's package.:103631605 LT

At one time during Flair's career when he was a Four Horseman, he was the World Champion, Lex Luger was the United States Champion, and Arn and Ole Anderson were the World Tag Team Champions. They had all the belts.
In an interview one night Flair in that stylin and profilin voice said " We we walking in downtown Atlanta Georgia and I heard a little boys voice from behind and it said Hey Champ, and WE ALL TURNED AROUND." I laughed so hard and to this day when I think of The Nature Boy Ric Flair I think of my favorite Ric Flair quote. Absolute Classic.

Whether he comes back or not from retirement, he was one of my all time favs along with Owen Hart, Ultimate Warrior and of course Razor Ramon and Macho Man. Ric Flair was by far the funniest and most entertaining though. The guy is hilarious...REELIN DEALIN SON OF A GUN, WOOO WOOOOOO..
