I think my wife spent about $350 on our daughter's cake for her first birthday. Spent a fortune on the damn party, had like 100 people. She got the cake from the same place she got our wedding cake. It has nothing to do with the kids, it has everything to do with the mommy wanting a perfect birthday party for their first child's first birthday and the daddy not knowing how much it costs.

Our son didn't get nearly the shindig our daughter got. First child, first birthday = small wedding.
